Tony Gonzales Hosts French Ambassador to the U.S. in San Antonio


France is a top trading partner, an important counter-terrorism voice in NATO, and a long-standing, loyal ally.

Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) hosted Laurent Bili, the French Ambassador to the United States, in San Antonio. Ambassador Bili is the most senior French government official ever to visit San Antonio. Through various stops across the city, Congressman Gonzales and Ambassador Bili highlighted the importance of the U.S.-France relationship and emphasized the strength of this partnership as it relates to the San Antonio community. 

Together, they held a cybersecurity roundtable at the University of Texas at San Antonio, discussed economic development with various industry leaders, and visited the Alamo for a historical walkthrough of Texas' state history. 
 
“I was grateful to host Ambassador Laurent Bili today in the Alamo City. From visiting an iconic monument of Texas history—the Alamo—to discussing San Antonio's role as Cyber City USA, we showcased how our region is fueling innovation and growth, not only in our great state of Texas, but across the world. France is a top trading partner, an important counter-terrorism voice in NATO, and a long-standing, loyal ally. As a lifelong Spurs fan myself, I am also grateful to France's sports diplomacy with the United States, which has brought some of basketball's greatest figures to our prized city. I look forward to partnering with Ambassador Bili to build upon our nations' shared priorities,” said Congressman Tony Gonzales.
