Trump supports American farmers by suspending the countervailing duties (CVDs)

The House passed my resolution condemning government fraud and calling for stronger checks before federal payments are made. It passed by a vote of 235 to 177.

Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. – This past week, President Trump showed his support for American farmers once again by suspending the countervailing duties (CVDs) on imports of phosphate fertilizer, which is critical for many of the vital crops such as corn, soybeans, cotton, wheat, etc., that we grow here in the US.

These duties, which were put in place under the Biden Administration, have cost our farmers nearly $7 billion since 2021.

Earlier this year, I wrote a letter to the US International Trade Commission requesting that they axe these unnecessary CVDs. Trump's action couldn't come at a better time as our farmers start planning for the next growing season.

On April 30, I introduced the STOP Resolution to require Members of Congress and their staff with security clearances to complete important counterintelligence and security training every two years. With serious threats against our nation, we must do a better job protecting sensitive information from falling into the wrong hands.

FY27 National Defense Authorization Act
During the month of May, I participated in several House Armed Services Committee hearings on the FY27 National Defense Authorization Act. As Chairman of the Military Personnel Subcommittee, I focused on recruiting and retaining strong troops, getting more cost-effective munitions, and ensuring our military is ready to deter our adversaries.

Espionage Prevention Act 
On June 3, I introduced the Espionage Prevention Act to stop federal intelligence funding from going to colleges and universities that maintain close ties to the Chinese Communist Party. American research dollars should not support institutions that aid our top adversary. AMERICA Act
On June 10, the Senate Energy Committee advanced my AMERICA Act. This bill helps expand responsible domestic mining of critical minerals so we are less dependent on China for important resources.

Additionally, the House passed my resolution condemning government fraud and calling for stronger checks before federal payments are made. It passed by a vote of 235 to 177.

Special District Grant Accessibility Act
My Special District Grant Accessibility Act also recently received a clean review from the Congressional Budget Office. This bill will make it easier for special districts in our area to receive the federal assistance they need and deserve.
