Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas Today the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) Texas State Technical College and Workforce Solutions Cameron hosted a roundtable to hear directly from industry representatives about the type and numbers of skilled workers that companies will require in creating sustained growth of employment in the Lower Rio Grande Valley.
As part of the Business and Workforce Talent Development Strategy Roundtable discussion for the Lower Rio Grande Valley TWC Commissioner Representing Labor Julian Alvarez met with business education and economic development partners to discuss local economic activity; examine workforce challenges and opportunities and consider innovative approaches to creating sustainable employment.
This collaboration is just one avenue of leveraging resources for addressing the needs for job opportunities and meeting the demands for skilled workers which keep our Texas businesses highly competitive in the global market" said TWC Commissioner Representing Labor Julian Alvarez.
The roundtable discussions will provide insight on cultivating and advancing guiding local workforce policy and assisting area educational institutions to expand or initiate the technical training programs required to produce the level of trained technicians needed by employers.
TWC provides workforce development services for employers and job seekers of Texas including developing the workforce and providing support services for child care adult education and literacy and administering the unemployment benefits and tax program.
