On Monday Aug. 22 a town hall meeting will be held in Stephenville during which
Congressman Roger Williams will present The United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration Lapel Pin to over 100 area Vietnam War Era Veterans.
The event was originally scheduled to take place in City Hall Council Chambers but due to the heavy response from veterans families and friends a larger space was needed. It will now be held at 2 p.m. at Paradigm at 555 W Washington Street one block west of City Hall and just south of the First Baptist Church.
Roger Easter Adjutant Turnbow-Higgs Post 240 of the American Legion says "I suggest people arrive no later than 1:45 p.m. Doors will be open at 1:30 p.m. and maybe sooner. Veterans are encouraged to come early and visit with their fellow Vietnam Veterans. 104 Vietnam veterans have registered."
Easter says that dress for the occasion is casual or business casual. The wearing of Military Medals/Ribbons is permissible and encouraged but its up to individual veterans. Attendees are also encouraged to wear their favorite Vietnam Veteran ball cap if they so desire."
According to Easter opening protocol will include the posting of the colors by Tarleton ROTC Color Guard prayer and pledge of allegiance.
Congressman Williams will follow with a five-minute welcome and opening remarks after which the Congressman will present the certificates and his aides will present the pins. Veterans may opt to have a family member pin them. Individual certificates will include name rank (optional) and branch of service.
This is a wonderful opportunity for veterans to meet and receive from their Congressman The United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pin as a lasting Memento of the nations thanks to all Vietnam War Era Veterans" says Easter.
