What’s Beautiful About the Big Beautiful Bill

What’s Beautiful About the Big Beautiful Bill
By Arthur Schaper

Well, it finally passed! On July 3rd, 2025, the Republican Conference got the Big Beautiful Bill to President Trump’s desk. July 4th, Independence Day, and Trump signed off on another set of incredible victories.

President Trump campaigned on key conservative priorities, and he has kept those promises, cajoling an erstwhile reluctant GOP Congress to go along.

There’s much to celebrate in this legislation.

Let’s just dispense with the final bill’s not-so-beautiful provisions:

1. SALT deductions increased to $40,000
This is not the worst thing, actually, but the principle of the matter still matters. Why should low-tax red state voters defray the burden for blue state voters? The one justification is that Trump and the Republican Party are gaining in blue states, and some of the blue states are rapidly becoming purple (New Mexico, Virginia, Minnesota), or becoming red (New Jersey, Pennsylvania).

Besides, the old SALT deductions were unlimited. Maintaining the caps remains a win for Red States v. Blue States.

2. The Debt Ceiling Increase
This is the worst part. However, with a razor-thin majority in the House and potential defections in the United States Senate, the One Big Beautiful Bill would inevitably include One Big Debt Ceiling Increase. There are silver linings in the aftermath of this provision’s passage. More everyday Americans, including populist-conservative websites like Citizen Free Press, are recognizing the problems with unsustainable debt. If long-term inflation becomes a norm in this country, voters will start holding their representatives more accountable to cut spending.

Now, let’s revel in the significant cultural victories which cannot be ignored, including several promises which previous Republican presidents—and Congresses—had made and never kept.

1. The Trump 2017 Tax Cuts are PERMANENT
Yes, this matters. President Trump has solidified his economic legacy by keeping taxes low for all Americans, including workers and entrepreneurs alike. He increased the standard deductions for individuals and families. Inflation is still taking a big bite out of everyone’s wallets. The last thing American taxpayers needed was a significant increase going into 2026. It’s worth noting that President Trump and the Republican Congress pushed back on raising taxes on “the rich.” The subtle poison of economic Marxism lurks behind many corners in Washington, and some Republicans are starting to embrace statist economic proposals (US Senator Josh Hawley for minimum wage hikes; Rep. Anna Paulina Luna for capping credit card interest rates). Thankfully, those higher tax proposals fizzled out.
Ending taxes on social securitytips, overtime payand increasing the deductions for car loan interest is a huge win, as well.

2. Work requirements for Medicaid and SNAP
This is essential. No one should receive government assistance if they can support themselves. It’s an abomination that any able-bodied American is living on the taxpayers’ dole when he should be taking care of himself. This measure marks a necessary course-correction from the Obama (and Biden) administrations. For years, Democratic operatives have pushed every measure possible to ensure more dependent Americans—and thus, lifelong Democratic voters who vote for a living instead of working for a living.

The final bill also keeps the illegal aliens off the dole. Most of the Congressmen complaining about this final piece of the final bill represent districts with large urban (illegal) immigrant populations. This cost-cutting move not only restores American integrity but cuts away at the long-term demonic demographic designs of the Democratic Party. The one Republican whose district has the largest number of Medicaid recipients, David Valadao, voted FOR this bill, and that’s a small win right there.

3. Major Spending for Border Security and Immigration Enforcement.
This massive provision deserves all our praise and much of President Trump’s credit. How many times have we witnessed Washington politicians talk about securing the border, but always undermining those security efforts with amnesty proposals? Even in 2017 and into Election 2018, Trump was floating a Four-Pillar program for immigration reform: Build the Wall (Good), End Chain Migration (Good), Increase Border Security (Good), and Amnesty for two million illegal aliens (Bad). In 2018, the Republican-controlled House, with more members than today, could not pass one immigration proposal.

Fast forward eight years, and Congress has passed enforcement, more enforcement, and enforcement only. The Laken Riley Act was a great start, increasing penalties for illegal aliens who commit further crimes. With the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill, we have funding for border patrol and the wall!

And no amnesty, no loopholes, no DACA giveaways! In fact, the legislation includes taxes on remittances! How many border enforcement activists have been harping about this necessary reform? Lawmakers could have increased the tax, but they included the provision in the final bill. This reform is fantastic! A big policy win. Most left-wing websites are ignoring this provision, most likely because it’s all win for Trump and all loss for the Left.

And once again: THE WALL! Trump has appropriations at the ready to finish the damn border wall. During the 2024 campaign, I criticized Trump for not completing the wall the last time. Now, he has the money as well as the will and the political momentum. He can get this done!

4. Defund Planned Parenthood
How many times have conservatives been kicked in the teeth over Planned Murderhood’s continued funding? This time, they finally cut off Big BabyKill’s money! I love this? Sure, it’s for one year (although ten years was the original proposal), but it’s a big step in the right direction. We cannot underestimate or under-celebrate this achievement. Planned Parenthood facilities are already shutting down across the country, and these cuts will hasten the abortion industry’s demise.

The Big Beautiful Bill had enough beautiful parts in it, cemented major policy victories, and signaled long-term wins for our country. I am glad it passed, and glad Trump signed it.
