Working to Keep you Safe From Coronavirus

Congressman Pete Olson

Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. –
I wanted to provide a brief update on our work in Congress to prepare for the possible spread of the coronavirus. While there are a few diagnosed cases in the Houston region, federal, state and local health officials are working hard to contain and protect our communities.

In Congress, we worked to provide more than $8 billion in federal resources to fight, prevent and treat coronavirus in the United States. As medical professionals around the world work to find a cure, I’m pleased that we were able to work in a bi-partisan fashion to prepare our communities and empower healthcare providers to keep Americans healthy.

The bill was signed into law by President Trump today. You can read my full statement here. These resources will bolster ongoing coronavirus initiatives at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), empower the State Department to protect Americans abroad and allocate more than $1 billion to support our state and local health departments in Texas and elsewhere in the United States.

Some important tips to help keep coronavirus at bay: regularly washing hands, staying home if you feel sick and covering your mouth and nose when you sneeze.
