After a recent New York Times report implied that former FBI officials James Comey and Andrew McCabe had been selected for an I.R.S. audit – and after the targeting of conservative groups and the leaking of private tax returns under the Obama and Biden Administrations – Republican House Ways & Means Committee Leader Cong. Kevin Brady says he supports investigating all allegations of political targeting.
"While the Biden Administration's abandoned Border Communities, the State of Texas will support & help them respond to the disaster that President Biden has caused," said Gov. Greg Abbott earlier today, announcing that his Public Safety Office is providing an additional $30 million in "Operation Lone Star" grant funding for Texas Cities & Counties to enhance the state's Border Security Operations.
"This report is the first official report released to the public on the timeline of the events on that tragic day. ALERRT's 26-page report outlining the attack on Robb Elementary School in complete detail was very difficult for me to read today, as it will be for all Texans," said Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, commenting after the ALERRT Report on Law Enforcement's response in the Uvalde tragedy was released.
After the Biden White House and EPA proposed that fossil fuel-fired power plants in 25 states participate in an allowance-based ozone program beginning in 2023, "The new regulations are not cost-effective and exceed necessary air quality standards for reasons that are unrelated to the environment," said Texas' Attorney General Ken Paxton. Here's why, and the letter Paxton sent the EPA.
"I urge the president - stop the loss of lives," said Gov. Greg Abbott during a press briefing at the border. Operation Lone Star continues to fill the dangerous gaps left by the Biden White House's refusal to secure the border. Every individual apprehended or arrested, and every ounce of drugs seized would have otherwise made their way into Texas' communities due to Biden's open border policies.
As baby formula supply shortages continue to plague the entire country for weeks on end, and as Texas families are continuing paying the price, Texas' Attorney General Ken Paxton sent a multi-state letter (led by West Virginia,) to the Federal Trade Commission to "reverse the ill-conceived policies that have created this crisis.” The ongoing problem is still occurring across the United States.
As a result of a sustained period of historically high revenues, later this month Hegar will provide an update to the Certification Revenue Estimate published in November 2021. That update will result in a significant increase in estimated revenue available for the 2022-23 biennium.
For decades, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has been weaponized by climate alarmists who put green special interests ahead of the American people. Thankfully, the Supreme Court last week delivered a ruling that affirms Congress – not unelected agency employees in D.C. – is charged with setting our nation’s energy policy. Beginning with President Obama, the EPA has stepped outside its authority.
“In the last month alone, my district has faced two tragedies – a school shooting in Uvalde, and a deadly human trafficking operation in San Antonio. In these times of crisis, 1st Responders need state of the art technology to perform their jobs," said South Texas Cong. Tony Gonzales, after he successfully included $5,484,000 in the first draft of the 2023 Commerce, Justice & Science Appropriations Bill.
"When we prepare for disasters together, we're keeping ourselves and our loved ones safe. The State of Texas is taking proactive action to ensure we are ready to respond to any severe weather that may come our way," noted Gov. Greg Abbott, reminding Texans to be prepared for hurricane season. Over 30 Texas Emergency Management Council Agencies bolster the state’s preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation efforts.
"“Oil, natural gas & coal have lifted people out of poverty, fed the hungry, warmed the cold, healed the sick, and created a more stable world. In fact, mankind is more prepared and safer from climate change than ever before," said Texas Railroad Commission Chairman Wayne Christian, as the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruled that the Environmental Protection Agency had over-stepped its bounds in implementing the Clean Air Act.
In response to the tragic San Antonio deaths of over 50 immigrants being smuggled inside a semi-truck earlier this week, Gov. Greg Abbott has announced an expansion of Texas’ Border Security Operations, including immediate implementation of new Vehicle Checkpoints targeting semi-trucks and the creation of additional Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Strike Teams to fight President Biden's growing border crisis.
"Now that the U.S. Supreme Court has issued its decision in Mr. Kennedy's favor, it is abundantly clear that government cannot infringe on personal displays of prayer. Joe Kennedy, a high school football coach and a Christian, was fired for refusing to stop kneeling in prayer after games. Today's judicious ruling is a great victory for Americans of all faiths," said Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick.
"It’s vital to fully protect the 2nd Amendment Rights of law-abiding citizens to whom self-defense is a matter of life & death," said Cong. Kevin Brady after voting against the Senate gun control bill that raises Constitutional concerns. "Out of the eight deadliest cities in America, seven are located in ‘model gun control’ states — many with red flags laws that fail to reduce violence."
Today, the Supreme Court upheld our Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms by striking down a New York law that effectively prohibited a citizen from carrying a handgun outside the home.
"Texas has prioritized supporting women's healthcare and expectant mothers in need to give them the necessary resources so that they can choose life for their child," said Gov. Greg Abbott, following the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling to "correctly overturned Roe v. Wade" and reinstate the right of states to protect innocent, unborn children.
"Because of our trigger bill that we passed last year, in 30 days, abortion will be banned in Texas. I thank God for delivering us this day, and I am so proud that Texas has taken the lead to ensure that such evil can no longer live in our state."
The decision reverses one of the most egregious departures from the Constitution and legal precedent the United States has ever seen, and one that has resulted in the deaths of 63 million American children.
U.S. Congressman Brian Babin (TX-36) issued the following statement on his new legislation, H.Res. 1183, denouncing the acts of domestic terrorism being committed by pro-abortion extremists.
“Underserved communities like Uvalde are desperately in need of mental health care resources – now and into the future. Unfortunately, mental health clinicians and resources in these communities are few and far between,” said Cong. Tony Gonzales, as he introduced legislation to deliver funding and mental health care grants to nine key areas.
