With this bill, we build on the landmark provisions in the SECURE Act, enabling more workers - especially those of low income and modest income - to begin saving earlier and giving them peace of mind as they plan for the future.

The Texas Comptroller’s office reminds business owners that for many property types, April 15 is the deadline to file property tax renditions with their county appraisal districts.

"If passed, these propositions will cut Independent School District Property Tax Bills by increasing homeowner exemptions for all 5.67 million homesteads in Texas," said State Sen. Paul Bettencourt. Contingent on voter approval, Prop 2 supports increasing the homestead exemption for school district property taxes from $25,000 to $40,000 and would be effective January 1, 2022.

After a series of tornadoes hit a number of Texas communities Monday night, Gov. Therefore, effective immediately, he has appointed Sen. Brandon Creighton to serve as Chair of the Senate Education Committee during the interim period prior to the 2023 Legislative Session, and Sen. Angela Paxton (R-McKinney,) to serve as Vice Chair.

The Texas Workforce Commission's "Jobs & Education for Texans" (JET) program now has approximately $7.5 million to provide grants for Texas' public Junior, State, and Technical Colleges that apply to help defray start-up costs associated with developing Career & Technical Education Programs in FY 2022. Applications are open for eligible institutions with a deadline of April 28, 2022.
