Yesterday Governor Greg Abbott rang the Closing Bell of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in celebration of the grand opening of the headquarters of NYSE Texas. During his remarks, the Governor honored the contributions of Texas business legends who helped shape our state into the booming economy it is today. Texas boasts the eighth-largest economy in the world, leads the nation in job creation, and consistently ranks among the best states for business.

According to the National Hurricane Center, the peak of Hurricane Season runs from mid-August to late October, and it is during this time that most tropical cyclones form in the Atlantic Basin. From mid-August to late September, we will be entering the most active part of the season. On June 1, 2026, we officially entered the Hurricane Season, and it is important to be prepared during the season because it can help keep both you and your family safe.

Texas Comptroller Don Huffines delivered remarks today at the Annual Legal Seminar on Ad Valorem Taxation, emphasizing the growing burden of property taxes on Texas families and outlining his office’s efforts to modernize tax administration, increase transparency and strengthen taxpayer protections. For many families, he said, property taxes are now one of the single biggest barriers standing between them and their first home.

With the nominations of Sen. Darline Graham in South Carolina and of Mike Mazzei for governor of Oklahoma, President Donald Trump’s strength in the GOP is unchallengeable. Both these nominations would have been won by the other candidates if President Trump had endorsed them. In South Carolina, the alternative was U.S. House Rep. Ralph Norman, a solid, pro-Trump conservative. If President Trump had endorsed Rep. Norman, he would have won.

Thomas, in short, has won the long game. But how?  Thirty-five years ago, mainstream legal training and judicial practice suggested the proper way to interpret a legal document is to probe for nebulous concepts such as legislative history and legislative intent. It's now hard to believe, but the commonsense notion that one should begin the interpretive exercise with a document's text and plain meaning was pretty much unheard of. 

Governor Greg Abbott today announced a new 10-year transportation plan with a total projected investment of $138 billion. The plan by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will improve safety, reduce congestion and strengthen the supply chain. Many of the projects in the 2027 UTP are roadway segments identified on Texas’ 100 Most Congested Roadways list.

RRC Commissioner Wayne Christian today refuted misinformation circulating about the RRC’s newly adopted Public Engagement and Participation Policy, emphasizing that the updated policy broadens public access to the agency, builds upon the success of the Office of Public Engagement and modernizes an internal policy that had not been updated in more than two decades.

Eklavya Barik, a fourth-grade student at Harmony School of Science in Austin, has been named to the 2026 National Math Stars Pathfinder cohort, earning national recognition for exceptional mathematical talent. Barik was selected from a competitive pool of over 8,700 applicants nationwide following outstanding performance on the NWEA MAP assessment, placing in the top 2% of third- and fourth-grade students across the country.

Hasan Piker, two weeks ago, delivered this message: ​​​​"Democrats, listen to me, I know we don't always see eye to eye on a lot of stuff, but you have to literally, at some point — I know you don't want to do this — defend me. Governor Greg Abbott today announced Industrial Electric Mfg. (IEM) is establishing an advanced manufacturing facility in San Antonio, with a capital investment of $200 million and up to 3,000 new jobs. A Texas Enterprise Fund (TEF) grant of $3.36 million has been extended to IEM for 448 of the new jobs to be created. TEF is a performance-based grant, administered by the Texas Economic Development & Tourism Office within the Office of the Governor.

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz visited The Imani School in Houston to celebrate historic school choice victories that expand educational opportunities for families in Texas and across the nation. The Education Freedom Tax Credit, legislation authored by Sen. Cruz and established by law as part of the Working Families Tax Cuts Act, provides a dollar-for-dollar federal income tax credit for individuals who contribute to certified scholarship-granting organizations.

Speaking of business-friendly states, Texas added approximately 1.5 million net domestic migrants from other states and DC between 2012 and 2023, based on IRS data, as reported by the Unleash Prosperity Vote with Your Feet site. Only one state, Florida, added more net domestic migrants. This net domestic migration translates into a gain in household income of $5.5 billion during the last reported year and $62.8 billion over the period of 2012 to 2023.

“We can move critical infrastructure forward while ensuring due process and safeguarding landowners' rights. This is not a West Texas issue and not a political issue; it is a basic connectivity issue. Electricity must be produced and delivered in perfect balance, every second of every day. When lack of needed transmission prevents power from flowing where it is needed, the reliability of the grid is put in jeopardy."

If Pete Buttigieg is the key to winning more Black votes for Democrats in South Carolina, then Black voters should be very clear about what they really want. The former secretary of transportation is campaigning in South Carolina under the assumption that his influence can help Democrats shore up Black votes in the general election. But it also begs the question of what exactly do Democrat leaders think today's African American voters want?

Governor Greg Abbott presented the Texas Legislative Medal of Honor to Army Sergeant Rickey Wittner and to the family of Navy SEAL Special Warfare Operator First Class Nathan Gage Ingram at the Texas Capitol. The Texas Legislative Medal of Honor is the highest military decoration conferred to a service member of the Texas military forces. "We will never forget the sacrifices they made for our country and for their fellow service members.”

Normal Americans who are horrified by the systemic corruption, fraud and criminal theft from federal welfare and grant programs, believe that Nick Shirley is a hero for exposing these scams. They cost taxpayers hundreds of billions a year and perhaps topping out annually at more than $1 trillion. It's the greatest train robbery in history.  Next month we are awarding Mr. Shirley our Evans and Novak award for outstanding investigative journalism.

I was proud to welcome Secretary of Energy Chris Wright to the Permian Basin this week to showcase the region's role in fueling the nation and world. The Secretary's visit was part of the Department of Energy's "Great American Energy Comeback Tour. Following our visit to a rig site, Secretary Wright and I addressed a rally at the Bush Convention Center in Midland alongside leaders in the American energy industry.
