Governor Greg Abbott, Speaker of the Texas House Dustin Burrows and Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick today joined together to bring greater transparency and accountability to rogue local prosecutors who refuse to enforce Texas law. Responding to a clear pattern of certain local prosecutors releasing repeat offenders back into the community and putting innocent Texans at risk, state leaders are prioritizing greater oversight and efforts to strengthen public safety and keep criminals off the streets.
The money comes from the State Border Security Reinforcement Fund, a U.S. Department of Homeland Security program created in 2025 to repay states that covered border security costs the federal government did not. Texas sought reimbursement for costs it has carried since 2021 under Operation Lone Star, including deploying Texas National Guard and Department of Public Safety personnel, erecting border barrier construction, and funding related operations. The funds have not yet been transferred to the state.
One does not have to be an elected official to understand how public policy affects Texans. My own public service has centered on a simple principle: government should be careful with taxpayer dollars while making sure essential services reach the people who need them most. The 340B drug discount program’s purpose is straightforward: allow providers serving low-income, uninsured, underinsured, and medically vulnerable patients to reach more people and provide more comprehensive services.
Gov. Greg Abbott’s recent audit directive temporarily pausing certain grid connections while state agencies complete a comprehensive review is a prudent approach. Transparency matters. Texans deserve confidence that our electric grid, water resources, and local infrastructure can support these investments before projects move forward. It’s the start of something we sorely need: a Texas plan for data centers. Instead of asking how to stop them, let’s ask how to make them better.
TREY’S Law, bipartisan legislation led by Sens. Ted Cruz and Kirsten Gillibrand addresses the misuse of non-disclosure agreements in civil cases involving child sexual abuse and trafficking. TREY’S Law unanimously passed the Senate in May 2026. Companion legislation is being led in the House of Representatives by U.S. Reps. Brandon Gill (R-Texas-26) and Julie Johnson (D-Texas-32). The bill is named in honor of Trey Carlock who was silenced by an NDA after enduring a retraumatizing civil litigation process against Kanakuk Ministries. He ultimately died by suicide at age 28.
Governor Greg Abbott today announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has approved a historic $7.5 billion reimbursement to Texas for border security costs. Operation Lone Star deployed thousands of Texas National Guard soldiers and Department of Public Safety troopers, built border barriers, and used technology to stop illegal crossings and interdict drugs. Under Operation Lone Star, illegal border crossings were reduced by more than 80%.

Remember the multitude of indictments against Trump a few years ago when they wanted to put him in jail for dozens of years? As a reminder, New York’s flamboyant Attorney General Letitia James accused Trump of fraud for overvaluing property, and New York Supreme Court Judge Arthur Engoron infamously found Trump guilty because the market value of Mar-a-Lago was "between $18 and $27.6 million." That was far lower than Trump's estimate of $426 million to $612 million. Trump was said to have falsely claimed “an overvaluation of at least 2,300%."

This makes Texas the first state in the nation to hold TikTok liable for misleading parents about the safety of its platform and for exposing children to inappropriate content. In January 2025, AG Ken Paxton sued TikTok, for deceptively marketing its app as safe for minors, despite regularly showing inappropriate and explicit material to children.
Governor Greg Abbott today celebrated the strength of the Texas economy with the release of August labor market data showing Texas led all states with a gain of 159,400 nonfarm jobs over the last 12 months. Texas also added jobs at a faster annual rate than the nation, growing at 1.1% from August 2025 to August 2026. Industry sectors show the fastest growth rates in Texas from August 2025 to August 2026 include Professional and Business Services, Leisure and Hospitality, and Construction.

The programs running nearly every office and agency in this state come out of a market that quit competing a long time ago. Software prices climbed more than 17 percent last year, the largest increase on record for the industry. Compare that to health insurance, an industry everybody loves to hate right now: premiums are rising at their fastest clip in over a decade, and at 9 percent, they still aren't in the same neighborhood. A gap that size doesn't happen by accident.
Under President Biden, Washington spent four years making affordable electricity more difficult to produce, and the result was higher prices for consumers. Just days ago, though, the Trump administration took a major step in reversing that trend by scrapping a Biden-era power-plant rule that was forcing inexpensive plants to shut down.
