Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock today said state sales tax revenue totaled $4 billion in March, 10 percent more than in March 2025. The majority of March sales tax revenue is based on sales made in February and remitted to the agency in March. Total sales tax revenue for the three months ending in March 2026 was up 6.9 percent compared with the same period a year ago. Sales tax is the largest source of state funding for the state budget.

Texas Land Commissioner and Veterans Land Board (VLB) Chairwoman Dawn Buckingham, M.D. and the VLB announced that the four Texas State Veterans Cemeteries (TSVC) will offer extended visiting hours during the spring and summer to account for longer days. Paychecks began flowing this week to many of the 59,000 heroic TSA Agents who've gone without pay for many weeks. Initial reports say agents have stopped calling in sick and are reporting for duty. Great right? Not to Congressional Dems who care more about creating havoc than getting workers paid.  They are refusing to fund the Dept. of Homeland Security and say they'll file a lawsuit to block President Trump from "illegally" paying TSA Agents.

As Chairman of the House of Representative's Homeland Security Subcommittee on Counterterrorism & Intelligence, I questioned witnesses during a hearing last week on the real-world impacts of the Democrats' shutdown of DHS, the Dept. of Homeland Security – including its Agencies, Missions, and Workforce. The consequences are clear: frontline personnel facing overwhelming operational strain.

Donald Trump’s comments about the war are all over the map. To his detractors, that looks like flailing inconstancy. Among his supporters, it’s brilliant strategic ambiguity. But most acknowledge that Trump appears to be suing for peace even as Iran continues to throttle maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, increasing global commodities prices and putting immense pressure on the U.S. and Israel to wrap this up soon — even, perhaps, short of their objectives.

"I was the only Democrat through this entire thing that refused to shut down our government," said first term Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman the other day – in a nationally televised interview that was surely seen by millions of Americans, no less. And for his strong dose of Common Sense to end the 2-to-4 hour waiting lines that have spread across the nation's major airports, the Democrat's Party leadership is furious with him. Turns out he’s about the only voice of sanity in the party.
