Governor Abbott. Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock today said state sales tax revenue totaled $4 billion in March, 10 percent more than in March 2025. The majority of March sales tax revenue is based on sales made in February and remitted to the agency in March. Total sales tax revenue for the three months ending in March 2026 was up 6.9 percent compared with the same period a year ago. Sales tax is the largest source of state funding for the state budget.
Texas Land Commissioner and Veterans Land Board (VLB) Chairwoman Dawn Buckingham, M.D. and the VLB announced that the four Texas State Veterans Cemeteries (TSVC) will offer extended visiting hours during the spring and summer to account for longer days. These longer hours will provide more time for families to spend with their loved ones. Texas State Veterans Cemeteries are special resting places close to home where friends, family, and fellow Texans can honor Texas Veterans.
Late last month, a Trump-aligned billionaire named Ellison inked a deal to acquire Warner Bros.-Discovery and its vast stable of media assets, including CNN. Last year, his film production company Skydance (which gave us the refreshingly patriotic “Top Gun: Maverick”) bought Paramount, giving Ellison ownership of CBS News. A few months later, he bought news site The Free Press and installed its founder — anti-woke, classical liberal Bari Weiss — as CBS’s editor-in-chief.
For 10 consecutive months, not a single Illegal Alien has been released into the country. That’s not just a policy win — it’s a clear demonstration of what strong leadership and accountability can accomplish. Last week, I was proud to see my friend, Oklahoma Senator Markwayne Mullin, be confirmed as the new Secretary of Homeland Security and build on this success.
Paychecks began flowing this week to many of the 59,000 heroic TSA Agents who've gone without pay for many weeks. Initial reports say agents have stopped calling in sick and are reporting for duty. Great right? Not to Congressional Dems who care more about creating havoc than getting workers paid. They are refusing to fund the Dept. of Homeland Security and say they'll file a lawsuit to block President Trump from "illegally" paying TSA Agents.
Ambulatory surgical centers often perform the same procedures as hospitals at significantly lower cost, but Medicare payment policies have historically treated these sites differently. By aligning payment updates and removing outdated adjustments. This legislation supports greater site neutrality, expands access to outpatient surgery, and helps ensure seniors can receive care in the most appropriate and cost-effective setting.
Through ASCEND, employers receive customized training that addresses their business needs and conditions. Employers can be reimbursed up to $500,000 or $4,000 per trainee for approved training projects. Reimbursements are performance-based. To qualify, an employer must operate in Texas in one of the targeted industries and commit to upskilling current employees or training new hires. Training workers can improve retention rates and reduce hiring costs.
It’s a question for the ages: Is there a bottom the Democrat Party leadership can hit that will cause their supporters to wake up? Apparently there's no bottom, and anything can be justified. No matter how many times you're certain they can’t do something more corrupt, sleazier, more hateful or idiotic, they find a way to exceed what anyone thought possible. Democrat Party voters, the fact is, are being played.
As Chairman of the House of Representative's Homeland Security Subcommittee on Counterterrorism & Intelligence, I questioned witnesses during a hearing last week on the real-world impacts of the Democrats' shutdown of DHS, the Dept. of Homeland Security – including its Agencies, Missions, and Workforce. The consequences are clear: frontline personnel facing overwhelming operational strain.
“The Star of Texas Award honors the courage and bravery of our Peace Officers, Firefighters, Emergency Medical 1st Responders, and Federal Law Enforcement personnel who've risked their lives to protect their fellow Texans,” said Gov. Greg Abbott, announcing that nominations for the 2026 Awards honoring those who were seriously injured or killed in the line of duty are now open. Nominations are due to the Office of the Governor by June 15, 2026.
Through the official powers of the United States government, Democrats used nearly 200 subpoenas to target over 400 Republican aligned groups and individuals. Arctic Frost tapped into 100,000 private communications, involved more than 12 U.S. Senators, and affected 1,000s of individuals’ lives – all blatant abuses of power, to put it mildly. The Biden Administration wielded investigative power through the DOJ and FBI against political opponents.
The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), in partnership with the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), is proud to announce $1 million in apprenticeship grant funding dedicated to strengthening the state's health care system. This investment supports the Disproportionate Share Hospital (DSH) Program, which provides essential care to communities across Texas.
The U.S. Supreme Court is finally about to rule on an issue that should have been decided long ago: the practice of accepting ballots after the "Election Day" deadline. So far, the Court's majority looks more inclined to bring the much-needed order and common sense back to our nation's elections – and in fact, the case could shift the 2026 Mid-Terms in Republicans’ favor. Democrats often win by broad, unjustified election expansions, which opens the doors to cheating.
There are just no two ways about it; Democrats' continued shutdown of the Dept. of Homeland Security & ICE is National Security malpractice. With the FIFA World Cup Soccer Tournament less than 80 days away, and America's 250th Birthday Celebrations being scheduled across the Nation around July 4th, this is especially alarming – we've already seen four ISIS-inspired attacks on our homeland recently, including one in Austin where three innocent people were killed.
Donald Trump’s comments about the war are all over the map. To his detractors, that looks like flailing inconstancy. Among his supporters, it’s brilliant strategic ambiguity. But most acknowledge that Trump appears to be suing for peace even as Iran continues to throttle maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, increasing global commodities prices and putting immense pressure on the U.S. and Israel to wrap this up soon — even, perhaps, short of their objectives.
"I was the only Democrat through this entire thing that refused to shut down our government," said first term Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman the other day – in a nationally televised interview that was surely seen by millions of Americans, no less. And for his strong dose of Common Sense to end the 2-to-4 hour waiting lines that have spread across the nation's major airports, the Democrat's Party leadership is furious with him. Turns out he’s about the only voice of sanity in the party.
