Harvard/Harris Poll says most Americans want Democrats to end their disastrous Government Shutdown
WASHINGTON, D.C. (Texas Insider Report) — By every measure this Schumer shutdown is a disaster for the Democrats. Obamacare subsidies are NOT a winning issue, they don't matter to anyone who doesn't get them, and "we shut the government to protect tens of billions of dollars in subsidies for illegal alien health insurance" is not a winner in any demographic.

Polling continues to show that the Democrat's shutdown political theater is driving the party's image lower.
And, there’s another reason that Democrats are preparing to cave, despite the best efforts of the establishment media to spin it their way – they are getting the blame for the very unpopular shutdown.

According to a new Harvard CAPS/Harris poll, most Americans want Democrats to end their disastrous government shutdown.
Here are the key results:
- 70% oppose the government shutdown.
- 65% say Democrats should accept Republicans’ clean, nonpartisan continuing resolution.
- 62% say Republicans “will win the government shutdown.”
- 55% say Democrats are “just trying to please their base.”

More than half – roughly $13.95 million – came in September, as Republicans were readying for a political messaging war over federal funding.
The National Republican Congressional Committee's (NRCC) $13.95 million haul represents its best September in a non-election year – and a 50% increase from the previous comparable September in 2023.
- The NRCC is ending the 3rd Quarter with nearly $46 million Cash on Hand, and
- nearly $93 million raised in 2025 alone.
- The NRCC also outpaced its counterpart, the Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) in the previous quarter of 2025,
- raising $32.3 million compared to the DCCC's $29.1 million.
The President and his team have said they want to keep the pressure on Senate Democrats to end their filibuster and pass the House Continuing Resolution to reopen the government.
CNBC reported yesterday that top White House economic advisor Kevin Hassett on Monday predicted the government shutdown is “likely to end sometime this week.” But if that does not happen, the Trump Administration may seek to impose even “stronger measures” to force Democrats to cooperate, Hassett, director of the National Economic Council, said on CNBC’s “Squawk Box.”
His comments came deep into the third week of the shutdown, which is dragging on with no clear end in sight – and as Democrats thought it would be “bad optics” to vote to reopen the government before this weekend’s nationwide “No Kings” protests.
“Now there’s a shot that this week, things will come together, and very quickly,” Hassett said. “The moderate Democrats will move forward and get us an open government, at which point we could negotiate whatever policies they want to negotiate with regular order.”
The White House is standing firm against the Democrats’ budget-busting alternative.
