Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas – "With more than 1.6 million people visiting the Alamo annually, I'm dedicated to working with the City of San Antonio and the Alamo Trust to ensure visitors from around the world and future generations will forever be able to experience and learn about the sacrifices made for liberty at this sacred site," said Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D. as she spoke this morning at the Construction Kickoff of the Alamo Visitor Center & Museum in San Antonio, Texas.
Lt. Governor Dan Patrick, Bexar County Judge Peter Sakai, San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg, and Alamo Trust, Inc. Executive Director Dr. Kate Rogers delivered remarks along with Commissioner Buckingham.
"As Land Commissioner, it is an honor to be tasked with protecting and preserving the Shrine of Texas Liberty. Beginning construction on the new Alamo Visitor Center and Museum marks a significant milestone in the Alamo Plan," said Commissioner Buckingham.
"This comprehensive $550 million restoration plan seeks to conserve the Alamo's 300-year history and the memory of those who fearlessly fought for Texas' independence sheltered by its sacred walls.

- Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham celebrated the passage of a $400 million funding allocation in the Texas State Budget for the historic Alamo, which was just signed by Gov. Greg Abbott. The Alamo Plan funding will go to several construction projects – including the Alamo Visitor Center & Museum, Alamo Plaza, Alamo church, and Cenotaph.
This funding supports several construction projects, including the Alamo Plaza, Alamo Church, and Cenotaph.
This project is scheduled for completion in 2027.
