Luttrell: President Trump’s Executive Order

Protecting Army Aviation Capabilities

Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. –  President Trump signed an executive order advancing federal research into the therapeutic potential of ibogaine.

More than 6,000 veterans die by suicide each year. As lawmakers, we have a responsibility to the men and women who wore the uniform—and to the families who stood beside them—to pursue every credible avenue that can improve outcomes and save lives.

This executive order signals a shift toward prioritizing evidence, accountability, and results—ensuring that promising therapies are properly studied and evaluated under established medical standards.

We must continue working to ensure those who served our country have access to the best possible care. The President’s action represents an important step forward in that effort, and in the broader mission of delivering real solutions for those who have sacrificed for our nation.

Protecting Army Aviation Capabilities
This month, I spoke with the Secretary of War to raise concerns regarding the Army’s decision to deactivate the U.S. Army Reserve Expeditionary Combat Aviation Brigades (ECABs). In TX-08, the ECAB mission supports nearly 400 soldiers and 100 civilian personnel, all of whom play a vital role in maintaining operational readiness.

The Department of the Army has invested millions of dollars and decades of training into these aviators and personnel. Eliminating this capability would not only be a detriment to our district, but also to our national security.

I’m actively engaged on this issue and working to ensure this capability remains in place.

Supporting American Agriculture
Our farmers and ranchers are the backbone of this nation. From sunup to sundown, they work tirelessly to provide for the American people. In an industry defined by uncertainty and risk, it is essential we give them the support they need to accomplish their mission.

I was proud to support the 2026 Farm Bill, and I look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on American agriculture and rural communities.

Recognizing TX – 08
This month, I had the honor of recognizing Steely Lumber Company, a family-owned and operated sawmill celebrating 130 years of business.

Built over generations of grit, integrity, and hard work, Steely Lumber represents what it means to build something that lasts. It is a true privilege to have this company in TX-08, and I was proud to recognize all their years of hard work on the House floor.

Traveling the District
It is always a pleasure to be back in TX-08. This month, I had the opportunity to take part in several local events, including the Montgomery County Fair. I met some truly remarkable individuals—among them the fair’s oldest veteran and its longest-serving veteran.

To both of you, thank you for your service to our nation and for your continued commitment to this community. Your dedication and sacrifice reflect the very best of Texas.
