Standing with ICE Enforcing Our Nation's Laws

I will continue to fight in Congress to defend our law enforcement, secure our borders, and stand firmly against those who threaten our democracy through violence.

Texas Insider Report WASHINGTON, D.C. – Our nation has witnessed another tragic act of political violence. Just two weeks after the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, a gunman opened fire outside an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Dallas. While no law enforcement officers were harmed, two detainees were injured, and one tragically lost his life. Authorities later discovered the shooter carried ammunition marked “ANTI-ICE,” underscoring the anti-law enforcement hatred fueling this attack.

The men and women of ICE are simply enforcing our nation's laws. Yet, radicals on the left continue to demonize them with dangerous rhetoric that emboldens violence. This must stop. Violence against those who protect our nation will never be acceptable. I will continue to fight in Congress to defend our law enforcement, secure our borders, and stand firmly against those who threaten our democracy through violence.

Delivering Lasting Border Security
Last week, the House passed H.R. 3486, the Stop Illegal Entry Act, which establishes permanent penalties—fines, up to five years in prison, or both—for individuals who illegally reenter the U.S. after removal.

As Co-Chair of the Border Security Caucus, securing our southern border is one of my top priorities. For four years, President Biden abdicated his responsibility to defend our sovereignty, proving the problem was never about resources but about leadership. In just months, President Trump restored order to our southern border, and this bill ensures those gains are protected—delivering lasting border security no matter who sits in the White House.

Funding Update
House Republicans are working hard to restore fiscal responsibility by returning to the way Congress is supposed to fund the government—through 12 separate appropriations bills instead of massive year-end omnibus packages. We’ve already advanced these bills on a bipartisan basis, and last week we passed a clean, short-term funding measure to keep the government open while we finish the process.

A September 30 shutdown is looming if Democrats continue to hold funding hostage to their radical wish list—demands like free healthcare for illegal aliens, cuts to rural hospitals, and handouts to NPR. Republicans are focused on responsible governing, not reckless games. If Democrats force a shutdown, the blame will rest squarely on their shoulders. I will continue to keep you updated as we work through this important process

Former FBI Director James Comey Indicted
On Thursday, former FBI Director James Comey was indicted by a federal grand jury for allegedly lying to Congress and obstructing a congressional proceeding during the FBI’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

For years, Democrats and their allies weaponized the federal government in an attempt to take down President Trump. Now, those who spread lies and misinformation are finally being held accountable. No one is above the law!
