“Trey Wharton's the proven fighter I need in Austin to help me ensure Texas remains the land of Freedom & Opportunity,” said Gov. Abbott
AUSTIN, Texas (Texas Insider Report) — "It's been very humbling to have received the support I did from the voters in House District 12 in the March primary,” said candidate Trey Wharton, adding, "This district represents the birthplace of Texas, it consists of hardworking men and women who want their conservative values protected, and now we must make sure we get all our voters out plus those who supported John Harvey Slocum – who came in third but has since endorsed my candidacy,” said Wharton, announcing a new list of endorsements (below,) in support of his bid to become the next State Representative from House District 12.
"I signed up to run against an incumbent last October – and I am the only candidate that's ever been elected to an office and held a leadership position," said Wharton, preparing for the upcoming Republican Primary Runoff Election in late May.
Wharton earned the endorsement of Gov. Gregg Abbott early in the race (at right,) and says he's been running a grassroots campaign that is not short of endorsements and support ever since.
“With three candidates in the race the campaign, knew the possibilities of a run-off were inevitable," said Wharton.
“House District 12 encompasses Grimes, Madison, Robertson, Walker, Washington and a portion of Brazos County – and is still rural. It wasn’t until the incumbent announced his retirement in November that the other two candidates decided to jump in the race,” Wharton stated.
