Texas Secretary of State John Scott today is reminding all eligible Texas voters who have not already done so to register to vote by Thursday, April 7 to vote in the May 7 statewide Constitutional Amendment election, as well as local elections for municipalities, school districts and other local entities holding elections.

“Emergency SNAP benefits have played an important role in our efforts over the past two years to ensure that every Texan has access to nutritious food,” said Gov. Abbott, announcing over $318 million in emergency Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) food benefits for April 2022. Administered by the Texas Health & Human Services Commission (HHSC), SNAP provides food assistance to eligible low-income families and individuals in Texas.

“Yesterday we heard the grim realities of life for our Border Patrol Agents on the frontlines of this border crisis, and what is in store for our men and women in green once Title 42 is lifted,” said Cong. Tony Gonzales, who represents Texas' Congressional District 23 that includes the largest portion of Southern Border in the nation. "The Title 42 rollback will lead to devastating results across the board, for Americans and migrants alike.”

“No American should be denied a life-saving drug or organ because of their COVID-19 vaccine status, or race, ethnicity. That is wrong. Unfortunately, we’re seeing this kind of discrimination," said Cruz. One of the bills – known as 'Doss’s Bill' – is named after a teenage Texan who was denied a kidney transplant because he had not been vaccinated against COVID-19. The GIVE LIFE Act would prevent Medicare & Medicaid providers from denying health care based on one's COVID-19 vaccination status. 

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar today said that State Sales Tax Revenue totaled $3.37 billion in March, a 28.5% increase over the pandemic-influenced month of March 2021. However, after adjusting last year’s March totals to account for February sales tax returns not collected until March 2021 due to Winter Storm Uri, March 2022 sales tax revenue was up 37.2% over comparable collections last year.

“The interim charges released today reflect the priorities Texans shared with me as I traveled the state, and those of the members of the Texas Senate. Senators submitted nearly 600 policy recommendations to study before next session. The committees will begin work in the coming weeks," said Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, releasing the final 84 "charges" for study during the interim before the 88th Legislative Session begins in January.

"This bill goes a long way in making sure big government doesn’t attempt to centralize and control cryptocurrency so that it can continue to thrive and prosper in the United States," said Sen. Cruz, introducing legislation today that would prohibit the Federal Reserve Bank from issuing a "Central Bank Digital Currency" directly to individuals.

When Joe Biden ran for president he opposed the "taxes on wealth" that two of his competitors, Senators Elizabeth Warren & Bernie Sanders, had proposed. Now he's proposing just that – and even worse. His proposal isn't just on income. He's even wanting to tax unrealized gains, commonly known as an investment's going up in value, by calling that income. And, it’s not just billionaires.

 Title 42 is a public health authority that has enabled Border Patrol to conduct rapid expulsions at the southwest border since March 2020.

This means funding will be made available to school systems in Texas that have experienced attendance rate declines because of the lingering impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, given an emphasis on in-person instruction.

With this bill, we build on the landmark provisions in the SECURE Act, enabling more workers - especially those of low income and modest income - to begin saving earlier and giving them peace of mind as they plan for the future.
