After the Texas House General Investigating Committee received a formal complaint that State Rep. Brian Slaton has had an inappropriate relationship with an intern, some of his fellow State Legislators are saying enough is enough. Tweeted one earlier this morning: "What’s most troubling about the events of this story is that his behavior appears to be predatory. He needs to resign. Now!"

This part is not for the based among you. You already know. It is for the not-yet-based who look at this all and sense something is wrong but are unable to articulate it. Let me help. The left never attacks on substance. It instead labels any legitimate exercise of power by Republicans as a moral crisis. Argue about the facts regarding guns? No, it’s all “You want to murder children!”

It’s not a nice thing to say, and it’s not something I relish saying, but you can only do so much to protect people from themselves. You can keep bad people away from good ones, but sooner or later if they’re really intent on being around bad people and things, they will find a way to do it. All lawyers are ethically required to avoid even the appearance of impropriety in their professional conduct. So a prosecutor who campaigned on finding a way to convict a man – let alone a former President who's currently running for President – of unknown & yet to be discovered crimes is not a close ethical call. New York County's Alvin Bragg will yammer about no one being above the law, but the indictment of Donald Trump will be deemed buffoonery – at its finest.

Take a quick look back to the 2010 Legislative Session – when a Texas House Committee was considering expanding gambling in Texas. Both Gov. Rick Perry and his Democrat opponent Bill White said they were against it. So why didn't Texas go for it then? After all, gambling & lotteries are nothing more than government selling false hope – and, then there’s always organized crime that shows up wherever there’s gambling.

Joe Biden ran in 2020 on the campaign slogan “Build Back Better.” But with his tax, spending and regulatory policies all hamstringing the economy, a more accurate slogan would be “Reduce Economic Growth.” What's the worst of President Biden’s latest proposed tax increases? It’s hard to say – there are so many strong candidates. Much of Mr. Biden's tax increase burdens are on U.S. workers.

Is the United States economically capable or politically unified or socially stable enough to wage a huge proxy war on the frontiers of a nuclear Russia? Ukrainians, Europeans, and many Americans are defining a Ukrainian victory as the complete expulsion of all Russians – or as a Ukrainian National Security Chief said, the war ends with Ukrainian tanks in Red Square. But mysteries remain about such ambitious agendas.

We keep hearing that "a vibrant news media is essential to a vibrant democracy," but we're not a "democracy" – and the regime media is trash. It's as useful as a thong on Chris Christie, and is comprised of a few mostly dull people who have little life experience not involving daddy’s money – or a keyboard. Expecting it to change is like expecting the sun to pop up in the west. It can’t. It won’t.
