Glen Youngkin's impressive victory over Democrat re-tread Terry McAuliffe in the race for Virginia governor ought to be a reminder that kindness wins over name-calling and that issues are more important than personality.

The off-year Virginia Elections have a nearly perfect record as the first "voter backlash" tool to guage voter's sentiments against the party in power. If Tuesday's election results – from Virginia to Seattle, in Minneapolis, and from San Antonio to Buffalo, N.Y are any indication, there may be some bigger and more massive sweeping the country for Republicans to tap into, and which Democrats will surely fear.

Republican John Lujan won a Democratic-held Texas state House seat Tuesday in a district in the southern portion of San Antonio that President Joe Biden won in November by 14%, saying he is the only Republican ever to win this seat.

"Our continued investment in Emergency SNAP benefits has ensured Texas families can put food on the table throughout the COVID-19 pandemic," said Governor Abbott, announcing the allotments are expected to help more than 1.5 million Texas households.

“While Americans are paying $144 million more every day for gas than in the past, the Biden Administration continues to tax and regulate the Oil & Gas Industry out of existence,” said Railroad Commission of Texas Chairman Wayne Christian, after more new methane standards were proposed by the Biden’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The GOP's sweep of Virginia's top-ticket races along with Republican wins in other state level contests around the country on Tuesday were an unwelcome welcome for President Biden as he landed back on U.S. soil in the early hours of Wednesday morning at the same time Youngkin addressed supporters after his win. 

The stakes are significant, as Democrats warily watch today's governors' races in Virginia & New Jersey — two states seen as bellwethers in the political mood of the nation's electorate. It’s unclear whether Manchin’s resistance will deliver a debilitating blow to the efforts – or have the opposite effect of propelling Democrats to start taking votes on Biden’s signature proposal.
