The voting patterns of State Lawmakers has reached a record new level of political polarization according to a just released analysis by the Center for Legislative Accountability (CLA). The comprehensive study examined all 7,400 State Lawmakers from each of the 50 states – including over 265,000 individual votes across 3,500 different bills introduced in State Legislatures.

Attorney General Paxton has secured a significant victory in the New Orleans-based 5th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, with the court striking down the Federal Horseracing Integrity & Safety Act as unconstitutional. This private, unelected and unaccountable to taxpayers entity falls under the purview of the Federal Trade Commission, which the 5th Circuit said is too limited to provide proper oversight.

Texas Congressmen August Pfluger and Henry Cuellar have introduced a piece of bi-partisan legislation called the "LNG for Allies Act" to expedite the licensing process for exports of U.S. Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) to strategic partners and allied countries. The bill also specifies that applications for expedited LNG exports to nations known to be a State Sponsors of Terrorism will be denied.

HB 159 reinstates the requirement on local taxing entities that proposed Property Tax Rates changes must be published in local newspapers. And HB 187 requires ballot measures seeking approval for the issuance of new bonds or public debt be done only during a November Election, removing the option to present such a vote during lower turnout, mid-year elections. The Legislative Session begins on Tuesday, January 10th, 2023.
