The Texas House crossed another major deadline at midnight Wednesday morning, shutting down the ability for any more Senate Bills to be considered on the House Floor. This 2021 Session's already brought several policy victories for Texas Republicans, and more are expected to be delivered to Gov. Abbott's desk in these last few days of session. Here's how to track the progress.

“Texas has the 9th largest economy in the world, and this budget ensures it will continue to flourish," said Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick after passage of the 2022-2023 Texas State Budget. "Because of the border crisis precipitated by current federal policies, we maintained support for enhanced Border Security and provided pay increases for our brave Dept. of Public Safety Troopers & other Law Enforcement."

They also underestimated how hard members of the House & Senate were working to pass this bill," said Texas' Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick.

Paxton,  joining the America First Policy Institute, the Texas Public Policy Foundation, and 20 other state's Attorney Generals writing to Education Sect. Miguel Cardona.

The Restaurant Recovery Initiative is built around a series of training videos in English and Spanish that will share best practices to assist employers in adapting jobs to contactless operations and  new service trends.

"When parents send their children to school, they want their students to learn critical thinking without being indoctrinated with misinformation... Texans reject the 'woke' philosophies that espouse that one race or sex is better than another, and that someone by virtue of their race or sex is innately racist, oppressive or sexist," said Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, following the Texas Senate's passage of House Bill 3979.

"Title 42 is a pandemic-era policy that's allowed DHS to rapidly expel migrants who come to the border during the coronavirus pandemic," said South Texas Cong. Tony Gonzales, who represents Texas’ 23rd District encompasses almost 40% of the total border territory in the country.

Texas offers three tax-advantaged 529 plans: the Texas College Savings Plan® (TCSP) and the LoneStar 529 Plan® (LS529), both college savings plans, and the Texas Tuition Promise Fund® (TTPF), a prepaid tuition plan. The plans are known as 529 plans because they are authorized by Internal Revenue Code Section 529.

Gov. Greg Abbott announced that the Texas Health & Human Services Commission has received approval from the U.S. Department of Agriculture for a second round of federal P-EBT food benefits for families with children who have lost access to free or reduced-price school meals due to COVID-19. ​​​​​​​The application will be open from June 2 to August 13, and are processed when received.

“This overwhelming vote in the Texas Senate – which includes more than 10 Senate Democrat votes to ban camping statewide – sends a strong message to Mayor Steve Adler, Council Member Greg Casar and the rest of city hall that their efforts to allow unregulated public camping anywhere and regulated camping in city parks is extreme and will not be allowed in Texas.

“The decrease in the unemployment rate in Texas shows continued strength of our economy,” said Texas Workforce Commission Chairman Bryan Daniel, announcing that Texas' seasonally adjusted 6.7% unemployment rate in April was down 0.2% from March 2021.

"Instead of completing the wall at our Southern Border, which would protect innocent children from being exploited by Human Traffickers & Drug Cartels, Democrats would rather spend $2 billion on a wall around this Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. to keep my constituents out," said Texas Cong. Lance Gooden on the House Floor during this week's partisan, rancorous debate.

Congressional backers of the "Endless Frontiers Act" are optimistic a final bill could pass the Senate before June, representing the culmination of a two-month effort by a handful of Senate Committees to draw up bi-partisan legislation aimed at out-competing China. Texas' Senator, Ted Cruz, applauded the committee’s vote for the following reasons.

“My Congressional District represents 820 miles of U.S.-Mexico Border, which is 40% of our Southern Border. I will tell you the Biden Border Crisis is as bad as it’s ever been, and it is only getting worse,” said Texas Cong. Tony Gonzales from Texas's 23rd District, highlighted the humanitarian crisis and influx of unaccompanied minors at the Southern Border on the House floor on Wednesday.

“There's a groundswell of pro-life activity happening in State Legislatures across the nation, as lawmakers challenge the extreme status quo permitted by Roe vs. Wade – which now often includes abortion on-demand up until the moment of birth," said ​​​​​​​the Susan B. Anthony List's Policy Director, Sue Liebel, as Texas Gov. Greg Abbott signed the "Heartbeat Bill" into law.

In light of a recent wave of criminal elements attempting to fraudulently obtain Unemployment Insurance Benefits from Texans, the Texas Workforce Commission is encouraging all Texans to protect themselves against identity theft.
