On Wednesday I participated in a hearing with the House Financial Services Committee on continued oversight of toxicity in the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). I agree with Director McKernan, who served as a witness, that “the FDIC urgently needs a fresh start, the sooner the better.” It's clear: for the FDIC to fulfill its duty to the American people, we must tackle this turmoil decisively and install competent leadership.
Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) advanced legislation that will bolster America’s homeland security agenda, prioritize the deportation of illegal immigrants, and support quality of life initiatives for our Customs and Border Protection (CBP) personnel. These key wins were delivered through the House Appropriations Committee’s passage of the Fiscal Year 2025 (FY25) Homeland Security Appropriations Bill.
According to the United States Attorney’s Office Southern District of Texas, in August 2008, Jose Luis Gonzalez began filing fraudulent unemployment claims with the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). Gonzalez then falsely identified himself as the employer in order to verify his own fraudulent claims. Gonzalez also advertised his scheme on social media and recruited others to join his operation.
DOL issued a new rule that would specifically allow foreign nationals working in America under the H-2A visa program within the agricultural industry the ability to unionize and engage in collective bargaining. This rule directly violates federal law including the National Labor Relations Act of 1935 which allowed workers in certain industries to engage in trade unions and collective bargaining but exempted the agricultural industry.
“As the state’s greatest fan of 'Beaver Nuggets,' I'm proud Texas is home to the world’s best convenience store," said Governor Greg Abbott, speaking to a crowd of over 200 Buc-ee's Customers & Local Leaders while praising Buc-ee’s for providing good-paying jobs and emphasizing how the company ranks among the Top 5 U.S. Retailers for entry-level salaries (with General Managers earning up to $225,000 annually.) Gov. Abbott also highlighted how Texas is the "Best State for Business" due to it’s highly skilled workforce & reasonable regulations.
“This is yet another example of Joe Biden trying to sidestep the Constitution and use Agency 'rulemaking' to advance unpopular, unlawful, and destructive policies,” said Texas Attorney General Paxton, as Texas & Montana sued the U.S. Dept. of Health & Human Services, its Secretary Xavier Becerra, and other members of the Biden White House for adopting a new rule that forces states to pay for “gender transition” procedures and requires healthcare providers to perform the procedures even when doing so would violate state law.
On June 6, 1944, Allied forces carried out the largest military invasion in history as they stormed the beaches of Normandy. Eighty years later, I was incredibly humbled travel to Normandy with a bipartisan congressional delegation to meet and thank several of the surviving World War II veterans who risked everything to save the free world, just as my father did.
“Today we're here to celebrate the next phase of Samsung Semiconductor's facility in Taylor, Texas – with more than a $16.5 million investment in the new Samsung Highway," said Gov. Greg Abbott, celebrating the Lone Star State's partnership with Samsung Electronics at a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new highway in Taylor. Following the ribbon cutting, company executives presented a briefing on the ongoing construction of the company's new cutting-edge semiconductor fabrication facilities.

"The 2024 Texas Coastal Roundup's resounding success wouldn't have been possible without the hard work of all the organizations who showed up and participated" said Texas Land Office Commissioner Dawn Buckingham. "Together, we created a unique opportunity for Texans to learn firsthand about our GLO activities, and see how various groups protect our beautiful coastline," Buckingham said, acknowledging the 50+ groups and 1,500+ people who, along the GLO Staff, held the event for the Corpus Christi Community.
“Texas made an outstanding case for our right to defend our State and protect our property from destruction by the Federal Government. We emphasized that a judge found that Federal Border Officials destroyed our state’s property – not to enforce federal law, but rather to facilitate illegal border crossing," said Texas' Attorney General Ken Paxton. "We also demonstrated the Biden Administration was not forthright to the Supreme Court of the United States about Texas’s border security actions."
During the early hours of the morning on June 6, 1944, more than 150,000 allied troops stormed the beaches of Normandy, France during World War II. Many of them were brave American soldiers who crossed the seas to help liberate Europe from tyranny. “The price of freedom is never free. The American Dream is only possible because of the sacrificies our brave men and women in uniform have made. "
“I served for 20 years in the U.S. Navy – I will always stand up for our Servicemembers, Veterans & Military Families," said South Texas Cong. Tony Gonzales, after he worked to include several key priorities as the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Fiscal Year 2025 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs & Related Agencies funding bill through his seat on the House Appropriations Committee. U.S. Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), and Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.), recently introduced the Fire Ready Nation Act, bipartisan legislation that will help emergency managers and firefighters better predict, respond to, and prepare for wildfires. The bill makes several reforms to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), as well as deploy more federal meteorologists to wildfire frontlines so that responders can incorporate more accurate and timely forecast information into their response plans.
Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts looks at the February wildfires that swept through the Texas Panhandle, their damaging effects on the residents and local economies of the 60 counties where a disaster declaration was issued, and disaster relief measures this agency took to provide tax relief to property owners and businesses. The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service puts fire-related agricultural losses in the Panhandle at approximately $123 million.
Attorney General Paxton sued the IRS to stop an Enforcement Announcement issued by the agency that would have severely limited the ability of child support enforcement agencies to utilize contractor support services. Specifically, after facilitating child support programs’ use of contracted services for over a decade, the IRS unlawfully, arbitrarily, and with no notice, reversed its position and demanded that child support programs terminate contractor access to data necessary for program administration.
Provisions in the law championed by Sen. Cruz will make possible test corridors for hypersonic and supersonic aircraft, and position Texas as a leading contender for a corridor. The law, which Sen. Cruz authored as the ranking member of the Senate Commerce Committee, received overwhelming bipartisan support in both chambers and makes historic investments in the safety, efficiency, and innovation of America’s aviation system.
Our "weaponized justice system" was on full display in New York City last week – against former President Donald Trump. A Soros-backed D.A., a Biden-supporting judge who led the jury to a foregone conclusion have now let the genie out of the bottle for all of America to see. But, compared to three short years ago Americans are spending over $12,800 more annually to buy the basics because of "Bidenflation" and "Bidenomics." I believe this was a rigged & despicable miscarriage of justice – and that the nation's voters will settle things on November 5th.
“I will continue to defend the laws enacted by the Legislature, and to uphold the values of the people of Texas by doing everything in my power to protect mothers and babies,” said Texas Attorney General Paxton, after he successfully defended one of the Texas Legislature's recently passed pro-life laws and secured a unanimous decision from the Supreme Court of Texas to uphold the "Human Life Protection Act."
