"Within weeks of taking office President Biden turned our Southern Border into a porous mess where criminal aliens wandered across the Rio Grande River without anyone to interdict them. I refused to stand by and let our state be overrun by criminals and deadly drugs. We launched Operation Lone Star to do the job that Washington, D.C. would not," said Gov. Greg Abbott, noting Texas' March 4th, 2021 launch to secure the border.
“NOW is the time to unleash American Oil & Gas Production,” said Texas Railroad Commission Chair Wayne Christian. "Putin’s Russia should be cut off completely — we don’t need their oil, gas or anything else. For the future of our allies and the safety of our nation, end the anti-oil-&-gas rhetoric and policies so domestic producers have certainty to increase production here at home," wrote Christian his letter to President Biden.
“President Zelenskyy told us his top priority is that the Ukrainians need to take back their skies, which are being used by Putin to wage war against cities and murder civilians. The United States and our allies should move immediately to provide them – above all else – with fighter jets, as well as with Stingers and other anti-aircraft assets. It is incumbent Putin does not have resources he needs to fund his war machine."
"For a week we have witnessed Vladimir Putin’s vicious disregard for International Law, national sovereignty and basic human rights. We will be acting as swiftly as possible to divest any holdings with ties to the Russian State or Russian Nationals," said Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar, noting that as the world’s 9th largest economy and the nation’s top exporting state, Texas’ role in global events is critical.
"Our Texan Hearts go out to those Ukrainians fighting for their freedom as Texans once did – especially on this day, March 2nd, Texas Independence Day – and we must take steps to protect Texas' Taxpayer Assets from Totalitarian Regimes that go to war against and invade neighboring Democracies without reason or provocation," said State Sen. Paul Bettencourt Friday, after all 31 of his State Senate colleagues had co-signed his letter to Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick requesting an "Interim Charge" study to determine how and where State Government Assets may be at risk due to the Russian invasion.
“President Biden has imposed more restrictions on U.S. Oil Companies than he has on Russian Oil. Even worse, these policies pour billions of dollars into countries like Russia & Iran that use those funds to attack our allies and undermine the security of America," said Sen. Ted Cruz, introducing legislation to make America energy independent again by accelerating new onshore and offshore oil and gas efforts.
"Receipts from restaurants continued to see double-digit gains compared to last year, and are well above pre-pandemic levels. And in the Retail Trade Sector, double-digit growth continued in home improvement and electronic shopping," said Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar earlier today, noting that Texas' State Sales Tax Revenue – a respected indicator of the economy's direction – for February totaled $3.23 billion.
One advantage of President Biden’s age should be that he at least remembers the inflation crisis of the 1970s – the factors that led to it, the efforts that failed to cure it, and the cure that finally succeeded in bringing inflation under control. There's no solution to inflation other than reining in loose money and enduring the economic pain that result. But, Joe Biden apparently can’t remember.
Ukraine's president Volodymyr Zelensky – as seen fighting on the streets of his Nation's Capitol City – called in to a Zoom Teleconference call of Europe's leaders last weekend showing the now-familiar dark-Camo T-shirt & unshaven look of a warrior, which contrasted vividly against the posh conditions surrounding the others. In his brief pitch for support, Zelensky reminded his counterparts – sitting securely in comfortable chairs in opulent offices – that this might be the last time they would see him alive.
The latest Rasmussen Polls show both an increasingly grave level of concern on the part of the nation's citizens – and an increasingly disastrous result for Joe Biden and the Democrat Party he leads among Independent Voters. Most "Likely U.S. Voters" don't believe Mr. Biden's insistence on using "Economic Sanctions" to alter President Putin's aggression are enough, or will stop further invasion into Ukraine.
The National Women’s History Alliance selects a theme and chooses women to honor each March as part of "Women’s History Month." Its evolved from the very first "Women’s History Week" that took place in 1979, and this year’s theme is “Women Providing Healing, Promoting Hope,” which is a tribute to the ceaseless work of caregivers and frontline workers during this ongoing pandemic.
"Our Texan Hearts go out to those Ukrainians fighting for their freedom as Texans once did, especially on this day, March 2nd, Texas Independence Day – and we must take steps to protect Texas' Taxpayer Assets from Totalitarian Regimes that go to war against and invade neighboring Democracies without reason or provocation," said State Sen. Paul Bettencourt Wednesday, after a total of 29 (out of 31) State Senators signed on to his letter to Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick requesting an "Interim Charge" study to determine how and where State Government Assets may be at risk due to the Russian invasion.
Many states rely on the “3-Legged Stool” of Property, Sales and Income taxes. Texas, thankfully, has only two of those legs, but the price we pay for the lack of an Income Tax is higher Sales & Property Taxes. If Texas’ tax system became a one-legged stool of sales tax, that Sales Tax would be in the stratosphere.
“When my agency was tasked with creating Texas’ first-ever Broadband Development Office and bringing reliable high-speed internet to every corner of the state, we knew we couldn’t do it alone,” said Comptroller Glenn Hegar as he began his tour to gather citizen's input to help guide the strategic vision of Texas’ new Broadband Development Office (BDO).
Its been true for some time that eight U.S. states have no personal income tax. Those states, from west to east, are: Alaska, Washington, Nevada, Wyoming, South Dakota, Texas, Tennessee & Florida. And since workers tend to want to move to no income tax states like Texas and Florida, others like North Carolina, Mississippi, Arizona and Louisiana want some of that action.
Joe Biden wants $18 billion more for anti-virals, $5 billion more for testing, and $3 billion more to combat future viruses. The outrage here is that no one in Washington seems to be outraged. Believe it or not, there's still at least $500 billion from the last COVID bill that hasn't been spent.
As Ukraine seeks to repel a Russian invasion initiated last week by it's president Vladimir Putin, fewer than 1/3rd of "Likely U.S Voters" have a favorable view of how President Biden is handling of the situation. And after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi recently announced she'll seek another term in Congress, 60% of voters view her "unfavorably" – including 50% who have a "Very Unfavorable" impression.
Gov. Abbott sent a letter to the Texas Department of Information Resources, and the Texas Department of Public Safety earlier today directing both agencies to use every available resource to safeguard the state’s critical infrastructure – including State & Local Governments, School Districts and private businesses – against potential targeting from Russian cyberattacks.
