Since the launch of "Operation Lone Star" over a year ago, the state's multi-agency efforts in South Texas have led to 225,000+ migrant apprehensions, over 13,300 criminal arrests — including over 10,700 Felony Charges — over 3,600 weapons and almost $30 million in currency have been seized, and that's just for starters. Gov. Abbott, the Texas Dept. of Public Safety (DPS), and the Texas National Guard are continuing and expanding the fight in response to the federal government's unwillingness to secure the border.
U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, sent a letter to President Biden urging him to renew Title 42 and pressing him on reports that the administration may lower security standards at the border and raid veteran programs to deal with the self-inflicted crisis at the southern border
Attorney General Ken Paxton is co-leading, with the state of Utah, a multistate comment letter addressed to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) that responds to CFPB’s request for information regarding fees charged by providers of consumer financial services and products.
Suing your beloved alma mater is never easy, but that's exactly what Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich did when he saw Arizona State University abusing its tax-exempt status to let big business avoid paying taxes. And, if the Attorney General of a state can't uphold the Constitution, who can?
The most interesting Rasmussen Reports Polling this week continued to show bad news for Democrats. For starters, 52% say Joe Biden’s presidency has been "Bad for America," 62% believe the economy's gotten worse since he became president – more than three times the 19% who say it's gotten better – and a whopping 83% say the issue of escalating violent crime will be important in November's Mid-Term Congressional Elections.
"With the end of Title 42 expulsions looming next month, Texas will immediately begin taking unprecedented action to do what no state has done in American history to secure our border," said Gov. Abbott. "The new strategies will further strengthen our already robust response to the Biden border disaster, and we will use any & all lawful powers to curtail the flow of drugs, illegal immigrants, weapons, and other contraband into Texas."
"If the European Union is already hitting roadblocks, no one should expect countries like China to implement this deal anytime soon," said House Ways & Means Republican Leader Kevin Brady and Senate Finance Committee Republican Leader Mike Crapo. "European Finance Ministers have again failed to agree on the 'Global Minimum Tax,' further evidence that the Biden Administration ... has neglected to consult with Congress and the result is a bad deal for American businesses & workers," they said.
Texas Secretary of State John Scott today is reminding all eligible Texas voters who have not already done so to register to vote by Thursday, April 7 to vote in the May 7 statewide Constitutional Amendment election, as well as local elections for municipalities, school districts and other local entities holding elections.
“The National Museum of the American Latino will connect visitors to Hispanic culture and allow our future generations to see themselves reflected in our national history. The museum will tell us about our country’s history from the perspectives of different Hispanics that lived it,” said Congressman Cuellar. A public-private partnership will bring the Smithsonian's newest museum to life.
About three weeks before the 2020 Election, the New York Post published an election-changing story about Joe Biden's son, Hunter – that if true, derailed Joe Biden's claim to know nothing about his son's multimillion-dollar influence peddling deals. The New York Times, The Washington Post, CNN and others said it was "Russian disinformation." Now, 17 months later, The New York Times (among others,) are admitting the story was & is true.
"Maj. Gen. Suelzer's wealth of military experience and history of servant leadership is a boon to the men and women of the Texas Military Department, and I'm honored to swear him in as the Adjutant General of Texas," said Governor Abbott. "Maj. Gen. Suelzer and I look forward to working together to ensure the Texas National Guard is fully equipped to defend freedom, secure our border, and keep Texans safe at home."
"Of the 997 non-compliance errors, 79% were substantial in nature – meaning they were ‘of significance to the matter and more than a minor deviations,’" said Sen. Ted Cruz while calling on Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Dick Durbin to hold an oversight hearing into the FBI’s pattern of rule-breaking during sensitive investigations. FBI agents violated agency rules at least 747 times in 18 months, says a recently released audit.
“A recent survey found that people of color, and those just getting into the workplace, are the ones struggling the most with inflation," said Cong. Kevin Brady, noting that 40-year high inflation rates have wiped out the wage gains seen from the Tax Cuts & Jobs Act. American families – particularly people of color – are in crisis after only 14 months of Democrats’ and President Joe Biden's economic policies, says Brady.
"Sarah Palin is tough, and smart, and will never back down. I'm proud to give her my Complete and Total Endorsement – and encourage all Republicans to unite behind this wonderful person and her campaign to put America First!" said former President Donald Trump. "She was one of the most popular Governors because she stood up to corruption in State Government and the Fake News Media."
I'm not a climate scientist, but I am skeptical that any form of "collective action" demanded by the government will make planet Earth a more hospitable place to live. Here's why – Is this the same government that can't balance its budget, control or keep its borders closed, stop the crime spree across America, and has allowed a 10% inflation tax, among other foibles? Fat chance.
“Emergency SNAP benefits have played an important role in our efforts over the past two years to ensure that every Texan has access to nutritious food,” said Gov. Abbott, announcing over $318 million in emergency Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) food benefits for April 2022. Administered by the Texas Health & Human Services Commission (HHSC), SNAP provides food assistance to eligible low-income families and individuals in Texas.
“Yesterday we heard the grim realities of life for our Border Patrol Agents on the frontlines of this border crisis, and what is in store for our men and women in green once Title 42 is lifted,” said Cong. Tony Gonzales, who represents Texas' Congressional District 23 that includes the largest portion of Southern Border in the nation. "The Title 42 rollback will lead to devastating results across the board, for Americans and migrants alike.”
“No American should be denied a life-saving drug or organ because of their COVID-19 vaccine status, or race, ethnicity. That is wrong. Unfortunately, we’re seeing this kind of discrimination," said Cruz. One of the bills – known as 'Doss’s Bill' – is named after a teenage Texan who was denied a kidney transplant because he had not been vaccinated against COVID-19. The GIVE LIFE Act would prevent Medicare & Medicaid providers from denying health care based on one's COVID-19 vaccination status.
