“Senators like having a low bill number since it shows their bill is a priority of the Lt. Governor and has a high probability of passage. These bills represent the will of the conservative majority of Texans, and many will pass with bipartisan support. Just because a bill is not included in the top 40 does not mean it is not a priority for me or the Senate. There will be hundreds of bills that pass the Senate, all of which are important to Texas."
Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller announced that he was going to war against so-called DEI and DEIA policies and that the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA), the multibillion-dollar agency he leads, will no longer contract or do business with entities that promote these discriminatory, demeaning, and immoral race and sex-based preferences which oftentimes violate the civil-rights laws of the United States.
On Saturday, Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) was on the ground in El Paso, Texas, to receive updates from the Department of Defense (DOD) and Border Patrol on border security efforts in the region. Biggs Army Airfield, located on Fort Bliss in El Paso, is currently being used to assist Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) with deportation efforts ordered by the Trump administration.
The 89th Legislative session has begun, and lawmakers have an essential financial task on their to-do list — writing the next two-year state budget with guidance from the Biennial Revenue Estimate, or BRE. Here’s the short version: Texas’ economy is in good shape, and we have billions of dollars in the bank, with a projected $23.76 billion cash carry forward balance from the current budget period.
On Feb. 1, the Democratic National Committee will gather in suburban Maryland to elect a new chair. The fundamental question they face is how to focus and moderate their instinct to fight every single thing President Donald Trump does. If some -- perhaps many -- of the things the president does are popular, then across-the-board Democratic resistance will serve to make Democrats unpopular. Some Democrats see the problem, and want to pick their spots to criticize, but others can't help themselves.
The school choice coalition keeps coming close, but then comes up short. And while new Speaker of the Texas House, Dustin Burrows, who like his predecessor was elected with mostly Democrat support that killed school choice, we are cautiously optimistic this year. The Texas Senate bill has already been endorsed by the school choice forces – and a slew of anti-school choice House Republicans were run out of the legislature in last year's elections.
“When illegal aliens commit violent crimes against a Law Enforcement Officer, Firefighter, or First Responder, they must be held accountable and be swiftly deported. I'm proud to join Senator Budd and my colleagues in this commonsense legislation to ensure this becomes law," said Sen. Ted Cruz, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, while introducing the "Protect Our Law Enforcement with Immigration Control & Enforcement (POLICE) Act of 2025."
Over a span of six weeks, half a million American Heroes fought in the battle — in temperatures as low as -18 degrees — and 19,000 lost their lives. In what Winston Churchill called "the greatest American battle" of World War II, the Battle of the Bulge finally came to an end 80 years ago last week — paving the way for Europe's liberation. It is our duty to take the lessons learned from our fathers, grandfathers, and history to preserve what these men fought for.
Governor Greg Abbott has announced that his 2025 "State of the State Address" will be given on Sunday, February 2nd at 5:00 p.m. CST, and that the Nexstar Media Group's television stations across Texas will carry a live telecast. During the address, Gov. Abbott said he will outline his priorities for the 89th Legislature – as well as numerous bold actions the Texas Legislature must take to build an even stronger Texas and "accomplish what seems impossible."
In the days leading up to President Donald Trump's visit to Appalachian North Carolina, Monica Glowinski said her biggest prayer for the people of Buncombe County, which was devastated by the wrath of Hurricane Helene, was that Trump would not let their plight be forgotten. Glowinski, who has been driving six hours each way from her home in Columbia, South Carolina, for four months straight with supplies such as food, water and diapers to those affected in Swannanoa, North Carolina.
Donald Trump is officially our Commander-in-Chief and JD Vance is our 50th Vice President. With this new chapter, the era of America’s decline is behind us, and I am filled with optimism for the future. With a Republican majority in both the House and Senate, alongside Republican leadership in the White House, we have a unique opportunity to guide our nation back onto the right path.
I was honored to attend the 60th Presidential Inauguration Ceremony of the United States of America. The ceremony was marked by hope, as we look forward to the renewal of America under President Trump and Vice President Vance. President Trump delivered an inspirational message to the American people during his inaugural address in which he promised that he will make America respected again, prosperous again, and proud again. President Trump doubled down on the promises he made to the American people that will put America first.
Governor Greg Abbott today directed the Texas Military Department to deploy the Texas Tactical Border Force to the Rio Grande Valley to coordinate with U.S. Border Patrol under the Trump Administration to secure the border. Departing from military bases in Fort Worth and Houston this morning, the Texas Tactical Border Force will surge over 400 additional soldiers, as well as C-130s and Chinook helicopters, to join thousands of Texas National Guard soldiers already deployed on the border to collaborate with U.S. Border Patrol agents on the border.
The Protecting Military Installations and Rangers Act would expand the jurisdiction of the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) to include real estate investments in the U.S. by entities linked to China, Russia, Iran, or North Korea, if the investments are located within 100 miles of a military installation or 50 miles of a military training route, special use airspace, controlled firing area, or military operations area.
You’d think adults could conduct themselves like, well, adults. Yet, when those adults are liberal Democrats, you’d be better off dealing with a teenage girl (no offense to teenage girls). They have no ability to think rationally, believe incredibly stupid and obviously false things, engage in double standards, cry like they just got dumped for the first time, and pursue petty vengeance against anyone who disagrees with them like a jilted lover.
"Jobs are growing here, businesses are growing here, the future is growing here," said Gov. Greg Abbott, celebrating Texas as America’s job creator and announcing yet another record-breaking high for total jobs in the Lone Star State, a new record high for the number of Texans working, as well as for the size of the Texas labor force based on December 2024 Employment Data. Texas has now added more than 2.5 million jobs under Gov. Abbott’s leadership.
The Texas labor market achieved a new record-high level for jobs and the civilian labor force in December. Sen. Ted Cruz and Rep. Mike Carey introduced a joint resolution of disapproval to overturn the Internal Revenue Service’s "Gross Proceeds Reporting by Brokers That Regularly Provide Services Effectuating Digital Asset Sales" rule. That rule defined decentralized financial (DeFi) participants as “brokers," and would undermine America’s digital asset industry by forcing DeFi participants to comply with burdensome information reporting requirements.
