The Texas Senate’s “2-Step” Property Tax Reform Plan, by State Sen. Paul Bettencourt, passed the Senate unanimously with bipartisan support on the first day of the 88th Special Session, with all 30 Senators as co-authors. The plan increases the Homestead Exemption permanently to $100,000 – totaling $5.3 billion and $12.3 billion worth of compression for Texas homeowners.

Glenn Youngkin scored a substantial and vital victory in Virginia on Wednesday, as the state's Air Pollution Board voted 4-3 to remove Virginia from the controversial Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) after participation in RGGI led to higher utility bills for residences and businesses there. Youngkin had often  equated RGGI to a "carbon tax" on consumers.
