“I am proud to announce a major win for Texas, and will continue to hold opioid manufacturers responsible for deceiving patients and the medical community while ensuring the victims of this tragic epidemic receive the assistance they need,” said Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, announcing for the second time this week that he and a bipartisan group of A.G.'s had reached an agreement to address the nation's growing opioid crisis.
Senator Ted Cruz has announced that he introduced a bill to reimpose "Terrorism Sanctions" on the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) – as well as on a group of 7 individuals affiliated with the group – re-designating the FARC as a Foreign Terrorist Organization and a Specially Designated Global Terrorist. The bill is co-sponsored by Florida Senator Marco Rubio.
"It's imperative that every family across our state has access to nutritious food," said Governor Greg Abbott. "Through the extension of emergency SNAP benefits and the work of HHSC, we are ensuring Texans have the resources they need to stay healthy," Abbott announced, after the Texas Health & Human Services Commission received U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) approval to extend the maximum.
“Texas' all-time monthly records for oil and natural gas production tax collections were shattered again in July, reminding Texans of the vast benefits our state enjoys as the top producing state in the nation. These benefits extend beyond Texas’ borders, as our nation enjoys the advantages of homegrown, clean, American energy that's meeting our energy needs,” said the Texas Oil & Gas Association's Todd Staples.
All the depressing examples have one common denominator: Elite (government) experts and degreed professionals massaged and warped their knowledge to serve some political and/or ideological master, rather than tell the truth. In the process, they caused untold damage to their country and fellow citizens. Is it any wonder the public's lost confidence in their degreed and supposedly credentialed elites?
After advising New York City's Mayor last month to direct his complaints over Texas' efforts to secure its Southern Border to President Biden for refusing to secure the Southern Border, and after additional complaints from Washington, D.C.'s Mayor Muriel Bowser, Gov. Greg Abbott this week sent a letter to both mayors inviting them to visit Texas’ Southern Border to see the humanitarian crisis firsthand.
"The Biden Administration was not only complicit in the fake news narrative about our Mounted Agents in Del Rio last year, they actively fanned the flames," said Sen. Ted Cruz, introducing a "Sense of the Senate Resolution" detailing how the White House’s failed border policies have created the growing Illegal Immigration & Drug Crisis, including when Mounted Border Patrol Officers were falsely accused of “whipping” illegal immigrants.
“Pharmaceutical companies like Teva must be held accountable for their role in this devastating epidemic. We expect this settlement to make a crucial difference in preventing fatal overdoses and treating opioid addiction disorder. This settlement is a major win, and a step closer to helping people overcome opioid addiction,” said Attorney General Ken Paxton.
"The sharpest increase from a year ago was once again in Oil & Gas Mining, but receipts from construction, manufacturing and wholesale trade were also up by double digits for the 8th consecutive month," said Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar, announcing that Texas' State Sales Tax Revenues jumped 14.7% from the same period in July 2021, and represent the highest monthly tax collections on record.
Everyone with half a brain knows that the worst time to raise taxes is during a recession, and the recent deal between far-left Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin will do just that. The bill's “Inflation Reduction Act” title is a dead give away on what Democrat's are trying to do – and spending $433 billion more while the country's suffering with 9.1% inflation will only push inflation higher.
"I was proud to fight for the needs of Texans and make sure that the Houston and Corpus Christi Communities have the resources they need to further economic development and public safety," said Sen. Ted Cruz after voting for the 2022 Water Resources Development Act, which he and his staff worked to ensure included numerous provisions benefitting Texas. Here's a list of the pro-Texas provisions included.
“No matter how many laws you pass, criminals, drug dealers and human traffickers will always break the law. The only thing liberals are doing is endangering mothers, fathers, children and entire communities. This type of legislation isn't about banning a certain type of firearm, its about taking away the rights of law-abiding citizens to protect themselves," said new South Texas Congresswoman Myra Flores.
"Responsible governance of the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA) is of the utmost importance for our Coastal Communities, and I'm confident these Senators will focus their attention on this oversight task," said Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, announcing the appointments of the following Texas Senators to the Windstorm Insurance Legislative Funding and Funding Structure Oversight Board.
Spending $2.3 billion on the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities program at a time of historically high inflation is irresponsible – and adds to the ever-increasing pain Americans are feeling in their pocketbooks, says Paxton.
The media is our enemy, and it's wonderful to finally see Republicans treating reporters as what they are – digital vermin whose sole function is to shrimp and market The Swamp. There's been a rash of media handwringing because GOP superstars like Ron DeSantis aren't allowing them access to candidates or events. So what’s the big deal – we’re not in a recession, right? Republicans are getting it. Finally.
“I wish the White House had a vaccine for ‘denial,’ because their in denial about the recession, worker shortages, and inflation. Who in their right mind raises taxes heading into a recession? To me this seems very deceptive. They'd taken Tax Hikes off the table, and now they’ve put them back on – that’s $300 billion landing on U.S. companies that employ American workers and that build things in America,” said Cong. Kevin Brady.
China's President Xi Jinping delivered a fierce warning to President Joe Biden this morning during a two-hour phone call, telling him, "Those who play with fire will get burned. We hope the U.S. side can see this clearly," as tensions between the two super-powers approach a boiling point while the White House braces for a potential military response to Nancy Pelosi's upcoming trip to Taiwan.
It’s official – we’re in a recession. And we have been all year. Americans have totally lost confidence, and their assessment of family economic conditions six months from now is at its lowest since 2013. Small business sentiment is at a 48-year low. Higher interest rates have clobbered home construction, which is down 14% annually. And Joe Biden & the Democrats say the economy is strong?
