A number of people who are against high taxes believe – at the same time – in substantial tariffs on goods from other countries. Here’s the problem: a tariff is a tax, a tax on imports. Americans and producers in that country share the burden of the tax. But is there some good news here? There is.
Dr. Mehmet Oz, Republican Senate candidate in Pennsylvania, recently attacked his opponent – the utterly ridiculous Lt. Gov. John Fetterman – for a pro-criminal record that would embarrass even George Soros. Specifically, he criticized Fetterman for employing as campaign aides Dennis & Lee Horton, who spent 27 years in prison for a horrific armed robbery murder. If I understand it correctly, the media's theory of the crime is as follows.
Currently Mr. Biden is more than 20% underwater on "the Economy" – with a 58.6% "Disapproval Rating" according to RealClearPolitics – which is worse than his overall 10% "job approval-disapproval" deficit. And with August's inflation rate near its recent 40-year high in June, wages continue to fall, Americans are paying more for everything from groceries to gas, and inflation's showing no signs of slowing down.
Texans are feeling the impacts of higher interest rates and inflation, yet as we worry about prices at the grocery store or at the gas pump, some lawmakers in Washington, D.C. are more focused on taking down America’s most successful technology companies than they are on offering solutions to mitigate the impacts of economic turmoil on consumers and small business owners.
U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas), member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) on Monday introduced a bill that will protect students in Washington, D.C. public schools from the city’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate.
According to the most recent data released by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) in an open records request to the Texas Home School Coalition (THSC), withdrawals from public school to homeschool in the spring of 2021 were 40% up over the prior year.
"Marian Wallace is committed to conservative principles, and nobody knows education policy like she does. Her expertise will be a key asset in moving our legislative agenda forward this upcoming session," said Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, announcing the promotion of long-time Education Policy Advisor Marian Wallace to Deputy Chief of Staff. Wallace will serve under long-time Chief of Staff Darrell Davila.
It isn't complicated why crime has, and is substantially increasing across America. And, if Joe Biden is unwilling to criticize the misguided policies of his fellow Democrats who lead the cities where its increasing, he can't call himself "tough on crime." Failing to convict or incarcerate criminals, while "defunding" and making the job of police more difficult, leads to more crime. Here's how Biden himself has made the job of police more difficult.
Representatives Tony Gonzales (TX-23) and Jodey Arrington (TX-19), and Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) on Friday celebrated the official renaming of the Rocksprings Border Patrol Station as “the Donna M. Doss Border Patrol Station.
The Black Lives Matter movement pretended to be about racial injustice. Mainstream media swooned. Churches centered the propaganda instead of Scripture. And Corporate America groveled at their feet. Seven years and nearly $200 million dollars later, the world has been conned.
“On the somber anniversary of the most horrific terrorist attack in United States history, I stand with millions of Americans in memory of the nearly 3,000 lives lost. We must never forget the victims of the acts of hate and mass murder committed that day by radical Islamic terrorists. I will never forget. We will never forget," said Sen. Ted Cruz yesterday, remembering the lives lost 21 years ago during September 11th's terrorist attacks.
In conjunction with the Texas Dept. of Public Safety (DPS,) Gov. Greg Abbott has increased the reward amount to $5,000 for information leading to the identification of Stash Houses being used in Trans-National Criminal Activity. As Operation Lone Star continues to fill the gaps left by the Biden White House's refusal to secure the border, every individual apprehended and every ounce of drugs seized will be kept out of communities across Texas.
"Rather than wasting taxpayer dollars on high-priced outside lawyers to fight against statistical reality and public support, Harris County Commissioners Court could have done the right thing all along — adopt a final budget that does not defund law enforcement. We have diligently worked to facilitate a local agreement even as Judge Lina Hidalgo engaged in childish attacks on Harris County law enforcement," said Comptroller Glenn Hegar.
“Last week I was proud to receive the endorsement of 34-year veteran Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr., a Democrat from Brownsville, often called the 'conscience of the Texas Senate.' Today I'm honored to have the endorsement of every returning Texas Republican State Senator," announced Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick earlier today.
A recent California-Berkeley study found that 90% of Tax Credits for electric cars go to people in the top 20% of income. That means electric vehicles are for wealthy people more concerned about virtue-signaling and telling others what to do, than for functionality or use by the Average American. If there was any real demand for EVs, the federal government wouldn't have to keep subsidizing (bribing) people to buy them.
After the first two buses of illegal immigrants arrived in the "Sanctuary City" of Chicago from Texas last week – as part of Gov. Greg Abbott's effort to relieve South Texas' cities from the Biden Border Crisis – Chicago's Mayor Lori Lightfoot said the city would welcome and assist them in finding shelter, work and schooling. Now, it turns out, Mayor Lightfoot is promptly busing some of those very same immigrants to the Chicago suburbs.
"Queen Elizabeth was more than a leader of one of the greatest monarchies in history and a close ally to the United States; she was a mother, grandmother, and wife who showed deep devotion to her family and to her nation. The world is better to have had a strong, steady leader like Queen Elizabeth, and we are forever honored to have had her as an ally to the United States, and Texas," said Gov. Abbott upon the Queen's passing.
“Texas' Oil & Gas Industry paid around $11 billion in production taxes alone last year – not including its sales tax contributions that benefit Texans and our livelihoods. I will fight President Biden and his radical environmentalists who want to destroy the Texas economy, and continue to support cheap, plentiful and reliable energy,” said Railroad Commission Chairman Wayne Christian after it was announced the industry is contributing record-breaking levels of revenue to the state.
