Gov. Abbott Launches Statewide Plan to Protect Texans from TikTok Security Threats

“Owned by a Chinese company that employs Chinese Communist Party members, TikTok harvests significant amounts of data from a user’s device," said Gov. Greg Abbott earlier today, announcing a state security plan for State Agencies to address the vulnerabilities of using TikTok – and other Social Media software. Abbott has previously directed state agencies to ban the download or use of TikTok on state-issued devices.

Gov. Abbott, HHSC Announce Final Extension of Emergency SNAP Benefits for February

Due to federal legislation passed by Congress, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients will no longer receive additional COVID-related "emergency" benefits after the month of February. While Gov. Abbott just announced Texas Health & Human Services has over $345.9 million in Emergency SNAP food benefits for February, SNAP households should log into their YourTexasBenefits.com account or use the mobile app to find out how much their regular monthly benefit amounts will be without the emergency allotment.

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar today said state sales tax revenue totaled $4.11 billion in January, 6.6 percent more than in January 2022. The majority of January sales tax revenue is based on sales made in December and remitted to the agency in January.
