"I could not in good conscious come home and defend a 'yes' vote," said Texas Cong. Lance Gooden after voting "no" on the National Debt Ceiling increase bill, which he said "did nothing to cap the debt limit, deferred it to a future 2025 Lame Suck Session of Congress, and at best results in a cut of only $15 billion. It would have been a vote for bigger government, higher taxes, and lower accountability."
Yes, the Woke Left still enjoys enormous advantages over the Right – a bicoastal elite with far more money, and domination in the dissemination of knowledge through traditional and social media. But the Left does not enjoy majority support with the American Public. And now it's managed to do the impossible – its goaded a normally comatose conservative dragon to awaken, and it is just starting to breathe fire.
“Since the Texas House chose to continue allowing Texans to be forced to take a COVID vaccine or be fired during the Regular Session, I will continue to file the 'Texas COVID Vaccine Freedom Act' every session, even if the Governor does not add it to the call. Texas employers – such as CVS and virtually all healthcare entities – still require COVID-19 vaccines for employment, and Texans have no protection from being fired if not vaccinated.
If Republican leaders nationally took the advice of those of us who represent Middle America to broadcast the specifics of their message, would it have been received in a more penetrating and effective way with the American Public? I now have the same worry for Republicans in the Texas State Legislature... especially when it comes to the issue of Property Taxes. Texans are waiting at their homes.
"I've been crystal-clear – the taxpayers of Texas deserve to receive the largest property tax cut in Texas history,” said Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick after the Texas Senate unanimously approved Sen. Paul Bettencourt's SB 1 and Senate Joint Resolution 1 to provide sustainable and permanent Property Tax Relief by increasing the Homestead Exemption for homeowners under 65 to $100,000, and $110,000 for those over 65.
“It’s important to remember – no federal assistance program is designed to make you whole after a disaster. It's up to you to plan properly, protect your home with wind and flood insurance, and safeguard your documents," said Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, encouraging Texans statewide to prepare for the 2023 Hurricane Season that runs Thursday, June 1st through November 30th.
House Republicans proposed requiring food stamp recipients and people on Medicaid to work 20 hours a week or participate in some job-readiness activity such as training, high school equivalency courses or substance abuse treatment. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy explained that government assistance programs are supposed to be "temporary, not permanent" and "a bridge to independence" rather than a lifestyle.
Almost immediately after the Texas House and Senate adjourned 2023's Regular Legislative Session Monday Evening – without addressing a significant number of the most important issues they had promised to address – Gov. Greg Abbott called them back to work at 9:00 p.m. for "Special Session #1," saying, "Many critical items remain that must be passed. Several special sessions will be required."
“This was a session with significant victories for Texans – but unfortunately, far too many of the people’s conservative priorities, sponsored by the Senate, were killed in the Texas House. Unfortunately, 9 of the Texas Senate’s top 30 Priority Bills never received hearings in the House, and... thousands of other important bills were killed in the House to the detriment of all Texans," said Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick.
For the past 99 years, Border Patrol agents have been responsible for securing our nation’s borders between ports of entry while simultaneously combating the illegal immigration crisis, human smuggling, and drug trafficking. Sen. Cruz has an extensive history of working with Border Patrol to ensure they are provided with the tools necessary to accomplish the tasks of securing our nation’s border.
The interference and aggression coming from the Chinese Communist Party poses a significant threat to our families, businesses, and country. Legislation I led, the China Financial Threat Mitigation Act passed in the House and has been sent to the Senate for a vote.
Even for those on the left who didn’t live in heavily locked down areas, their paranoia made them take their own steps to isolate themselves from society. We all know the families who disappeared; they stopped going to church, the gym, and other social activities, refused to let their children participate in sports or hang out with other children due to the brainwashing, which caused a disturbingly sad increase in mental illness among children.
Here at the Texas Veterans Land Board (VLB), we strive each and every day to supply the best benefits in the country to the Texas Veterans who have served our grateful nation. However, for those who've made the ultimate sacrifice and cannot benefit from this support, we honor their Memories & Sacrifices on Memorial Day. On this day, and every day, I encourage Texans to pause and reflect upon the freedoms we enjoy because of their sacrifices.
Earlier this week, the Interstate Oil & Gas Compact Commission (IOGCC) approved a resolution by Texas Railroad Commissioner Jim Wright which urges the U.S. Interior Department to follow the statutory language passed by Congress in the "Infrastructure Investment & Jobs Act," and "reinforces the shared desire for taxpayer funds to be utilized to plug as many orphan wells as possible."
“We look forward to bringing the 2023 Governor’s Small Business Summit to Amarillo – as well as to about a dozen more communities across Texas this year– to ensure that small businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs have the tools they need to succeed," said Gov. Greg Abbott earlier today, announcing the Thursday, June 1st date for Amarillo, as well as future dates and cities for other upcoming summits.
Democrats are really mad that they're losing the messaging battle over the Debt Ceiling negotiations. Even CNN has a poll finding 60% of Americans agree with the Republican position in these talks. So this week I did some messaging back to the Democrats’ dishonest rhetoric on the debt ceiling. They’ve been unwilling to negotiate on their unsustainable spending, while spreading lies about the Republican plan to fix this crisis.
If your “identity” is based on who you sleep with, you suck at life. If you’re a pin-cushion for perverts to shock straight people, you're a pathetic creature. Have some dignity. Florida is removing children’s books with graphic depictions of sex – particularly between men and boys – from public school libraries (though adults can buy them anywhere). It’s just like the Holocaust… or so we’re told.
At a time when U.S. power consumption is expected to increase by around 20% before 2030, Joe Biden’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has proposed a new rule to eliminate nearly all the country’s natural gas & coal-fired power plant’s carbon emissions over the next 20 years. This bureaucratic, unlawful overreach will be catastrophic to Texas, to the nation – and if it's allowed to go into effect I intend to take Mr. Biden to court.
