As a COVID surge in the illegal border crossers hits South Texas' communities in the Rio Grande Valley, there were nearly 20,000 encounters there during just the past week, adding to the 1,000,000+ encounters already recorded so far this year. The Rio Grande Valley's seen a 478% increase in migrant encounters since June 2020.
