As Another Key Inflation Gauge Sets 40-Year High, Average U.S. Households Will Pay $5,200 More in 2022

“Inflation will mean that the average U.S. household has to spend an extra $433 more per month for the same consumption basket” of goods, wrote two Bloomberg economists after Thursday's announcement that a key measure of inflation accelerated at its fastest year-over-year rate in 40 years – since January 1982. Some economists believe inflation will likely worsen in the coming months.

Texans Vote May 7th on Sen. Bettencourt's Effort to Raise Homestead Exemptions for ISD Taxes from $25,000 to $40,000

"If passed, these propositions will cut Independent School District Property Tax Bills by increasing homeowner exemptions for all 5.67 million homesteads in Texas," said State Sen. Paul Bettencourt. Contingent on voter approval, Prop 2 supports increasing the homestead exemption for school district property taxes from $25,000 to $40,000 and would be effective January 1, 2022.
