Globe Life Field was packed with over 25,000 job seekers showing up to find new or better careers! From 11am - 3pm we were so honored to help serve 10s of 1,000s of North Texans. We truly appreciated the feedback from businesses who received hundreds of new candidates to employees who found the opportunity they were looking for! We had to make room for even more who showed up on the spot wanting to hire.
Since the launch of Operation Lone Star, the multi-agency effort has led to over 517,400 illegal immigrant apprehensions and more than 45,900 criminal arrests, with more than 39,800 felony charges. In the fight against the fentanyl crisis, Texas law enforcement has seized over 518 million lethal doses of fentanyl, enough to kill every man, woman, and child in the United States and Mexico combined during this border mission.
“This funding marks a critical step toward stemming the rising rate of Texans dying from opioids, including fentanyl. Every dollar can help save a Texan’s life,” said Texas Comptroller and Texas Opioid Abatement Fund Council Chairman Glenn Hegar, announcing an award to the Bexar County Hospital District to distribute medication to reverse opioid overdoses throughout the state. The grant follows a November 2023 award of up to $75 million for three grant opportunities.
“Tim Walz is a far leftist,” Johnson says. “He’s on video giving sanction to Socialism…he thinks it’s a great idea. He says that we ought to have sanctuary cities and that illegal aliens should be given drivers licenses. He champions abortion and indeed he expanded abortion rights in his state with almost no limits at all.” He adds that Walz clearly does not line up with the values of the American people.
"Low-interest loans will be made available to qualifying Texans so they can restore their Homes & Businesses from the April 26-June 5 severe storms or floods. This SBA Disaster Declaration helps Texans access the crucial financial assistance they need to continue to recover," said Gov. Greg Abbott, announcing the SBA's Home Disaster Loan, Business Physical Disaster Loan, and Economic Injury Disaster Loan efforts for homeowners, renters, and businesses in affected communities.
Washington, D.C. and Wall Street are hyperventilating. While we believe in independence from political considerations, it's also dangerous that a bunch of lawyers and ivory-tower PhD economists can control the money supply and raise taxes (inflation IS a tax) without ANY accountability – least of all the voters. The 300 PhD economists sitting in the temple of the Federal Reserve Bank have a less-than-stellar track record. To borrow the left's favorite phrase: that's a "danger to democracy."
Texans can shorten wait times at the centers if they apply to FEMA online, by phone or using the FEMA App before visiting a center. Best times to call are early morning or early evening. Homeowners and renters in Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Jasper, Jackson, Jefferson, Liberty, Orange, Matagorda, Montgomery, Nacogdoches, Polk, San Jacinto, Walker and Wharton counties can apply for FEMA assistance for uninsured losses caused by Hurricane Beryl.
"This will support research not only at Baylor University, but will also provide for engagement with the local educational research and industrial partnerships,” said Cong. Pete Sessions, announcing that the Materials Equipment Infrastructure Expansion for Baylor University's Materials Science & Engineering Program received federal funding under the Commerce, Justice, Science & Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2024. Congressman Sessions was the Congressional sponsor of the project.
The Democrat's Harris-Walz lie is clear – and is the same as Joe Biden's from four years ago. Joe Biden talked "unity" and "competency." He denied all his Left-Wing positions, said his wild Democrat Primary claims were "dis-information," and as soon as he was elected Biden became the hyper-leftist Democrat he promised he wouldn't be. Fooled and naive voters were shocked – he said he'd be a "moderate," and turned into a Democrat-Socialist! Just like Kamala is doing.
Since the Democrat's Palace Coup swapped Kamala Harris for Joe Biden, we’ve seen nothing but wall-to-wall, unadulterated fawning over her by the national media. And meantime, America's quietly been told she's now reversed herself on a whole slate of previous – and voter alienating positions. I say we've "been told" this because Harris hasn't announced any of it publicly, or even been asked to explain the dramatic reversals. Instead, we're just told it's the case – because “campaign officials” said so.
Texas’ sales tax holiday has not lost any of its luster. This weekend's Sales Tax-Exempt Holiday for back-to-school Apparel & Supplies has saved Texans millions annually on clothing, footwear and numerous other school supplies. From its inception in 1999, Texas’ oldest sales tax holiday has saved shoppers an estimated $1.8 billion on qualified items priced below $100. Here's a list of items that qualify and can be purchased "tax free" during this weekend.
U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, joined Sens. Todd Young (R-Ind.) and Chris Coons (D-Del.) in applauding the Senate’s unanimous passage of the Judicial Understaffing Delays Getting Emergencies Solved (JUDGES) Act of 2024. The JUDGES Act would address judicial emergencies and shortages across the country by increasing the number of federal district judges in the most overworked regions of the country.
At Governor Abbott's direction, the Texas State Emergency Operations Center will begin statewide wildfire coordination calls tomorrow to provide local and state partners with situational awareness and ensure coordination between responders. Additionally, based on current conditions and the fire weather forecast, Governor Abbott has directed the Texas A&M Forest Service to open the Abilene Air Tanker Base at Abilene Regional Airport to assist state and local responders in wildfire suppression efforts across Texas.
Because of modern drilling technologies – including horizontal drilling and fracking – Natural Gas is now cheaper than bottled water, which now sells for $2.69. One of my constant themes is that the so-called “green-energy transition” is a figment of the left’s oversized imagination. Despite hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars being thrown at wind and solar power by Biden, Kamala and the Democrats, we still get less than 10% of our energy from "green" sources. The needle hasn’t moved.
Traditionally, a vice-presidential running mate is chosen to help “balance” the ticket. Sometimes that “balance” is an ideological balance, so different ideological wings of the party feel they have a stake in the election (think Johnson-Humphrey), while other times it’s a geographic balance (think Kennedy-Johnson), and still other times we’ve seen an experience balance (think Obama-Biden).
"Today’s passage of the 'Improving Access to Our Courts Act' will help expand courthouse access for West Texas citizens by allowing federal proceedings to take place in Alpine – and in the coming days, this bill will be signed into law. I'm proud to help deliver this win for the Big Bend area, and will keep fighting to ensure our district has the resources it needs,” said Congressman Tony Gonzales’ of his effort to allow federal court proceedings to be conducted in West Texas' Brewster County.
The fight lasted only 46 seconds. An Algerian boxer with male chromosomes won a fight in the 66-kilogram women’s division at the Paris Olympics last Thursday. Imane Khelif defeated Italy’s Angela Carini – after Carini abandoned her match. It's outrageous and disgusting that this is allowed to happen. Democrats support this insanity, and we cannot let such gross injustice pass quietly. The reason we have "Women's Sports," is to... have women separated from men.
“TXOGA Safety Talks is a benefit for our members and Safety Group participants to help them adhere to high standards for workplace safety within the industry,” said Texas Oil & Gas Association President Todd Staples, announcing the launch of the Workers’ Compensation Safety Group initiative. TXOGA Safety Group participants recently received $3,846,290 in dividends, and $27,362,579 in Texas Mutual individual policyholder dividends.
