Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) advanced legislation that will bolster America’s homeland security agenda, prioritize the deportation of illegal immigrants, and support quality of life initiatives for our Customs and Border Protection (CBP) personnel. These key wins were delivered through the House Appropriations Committee’s passage of the Fiscal Year 2025 (FY25) Homeland Security Appropriations Bill.
“Last year I worked with the Texas Legislature to pass a law creating a centralized Court of Appeals to resolve public law disputes and constitutional challenges that impact Texans across our great state, as well as appeals from the first-ever Texas Business Courts,” said Governor Abbott. “Today, those plans come to fruition, and I'm proud to appoint the first three members of the 15th Court of Appeals," Abbott said, announcing his inaugural appointments of Scott A. Brister, Scott K. Field & April L. Farris
According to the United States Attorney’s Office Southern District of Texas, in August 2008, Jose Luis Gonzalez began filing fraudulent unemployment claims with the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). Gonzalez then falsely identified himself as the employer in order to verify his own fraudulent claims. Gonzalez also advertised his scheme on social media and recruited others to join his operation.
DOL issued a new rule that would specifically allow foreign nationals working in America under the H-2A visa program within the agricultural industry the ability to unionize and engage in collective bargaining. This rule directly violates federal law including the National Labor Relations Act of 1935 which allowed workers in certain industries to engage in trade unions and collective bargaining but exempted the agricultural industry.
The data is in a new poll by the Pew Research Center: When asked in 2017, 54% of those surveyed said that whether one is a man or woman is determined at birth, while 44% said it can be different. In 2021, the number saying sex is determined at birth ticked up to 56%. In 2022, it grew to 60%. This year, 65% of those surveyed said it is determined at birth, while 33% said it can be different. A recent study found that Austin is emerging as a "Top Tier City" for tech talent, ranking #1 in the United States. And, I applaud the Texas Legislature for taking on the Tech & Artificial Intelligence (AI) challenges – but lawmakers at all levels should remain cautious about pursuing policies that slow AI innovations and tech developments. This is particularly important in light of recent reports that China is developing an AI Model trained to promote “socialism with Chinese characteristics.” The U.S. can't afford to lose its leadership position in AI to China.
“As the state’s greatest fan of 'Beaver Nuggets,' I'm proud Texas is home to the world’s best convenience store," said Governor Greg Abbott, speaking to a crowd of over 200 Buc-ee's Customers & Local Leaders while praising Buc-ee’s for providing good-paying jobs and emphasizing how the company ranks among the Top 5 U.S. Retailers for entry-level salaries (with General Managers earning up to $225,000 annually.) Gov. Abbott also highlighted how Texas is the "Best State for Business" due to it’s highly skilled workforce & reasonable regulations.
“This is yet another example of Joe Biden trying to sidestep the Constitution and use Agency 'rulemaking' to advance unpopular, unlawful, and destructive policies,” said Texas Attorney General Paxton, as Texas & Montana sued the U.S. Dept. of Health & Human Services, its Secretary Xavier Becerra, and other members of the Biden White House for adopting a new rule that forces states to pay for “gender transition” procedures and requires healthcare providers to perform the procedures even when doing so would violate state law.
There must be a cheaper way to buy an Election. Washington's awash in debt right now – and Joe Biden thinks we need more of it. Just 17 years ago the "Subprime" Mortgage Crisis torpedoed the economy, sent the financial markets into the biggest tailspin since the Great Depression, and millions of Americans lost their jobs. One of the matches that lit that bonfire was Freddie Mac & Fannie Mae offering generous, taxpayer-guaranteed mortgage insurance to risky borrowers. Well, here we go again.
While President Biden continues to campaign for another four years in the White House, a majority of "Likely U.S. Voters" now say they perceive he is losing his mental sharpness. The latest Rasmussen Reports National Telephone & Online Survey finds that 57% of "Likely U.S. Voters" think that – over time – Mr. Biden is becoming less and less mentally sharp, and most recently said they suspect the Mainstream Media is trying to cover up the president’s cognitive decline.
On June 6, 1944, Allied forces carried out the largest military invasion in history as they stormed the beaches of Normandy. Eighty years later, I was incredibly humbled travel to Normandy with a bipartisan congressional delegation to meet and thank several of the surviving World War II veterans who risked everything to save the free world, just as my father did.
“Today we're here to celebrate the next phase of Samsung Semiconductor's facility in Taylor, Texas – with more than a $16.5 million investment in the new Samsung Highway," said Gov. Greg Abbott, celebrating the Lone Star State's partnership with Samsung Electronics at a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new highway in Taylor. Following the ribbon cutting, company executives presented a briefing on the ongoing construction of the company's new cutting-edge semiconductor fabrication facilities.
“Our military officers swear an oath to Support & Defend our Constitution – so it's basic common sense to ensure they're grounded in the Constitution’s history and text,” said Sen. Ted Cruz, as he and Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) – both members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee – introduced the "Constitutional Orientation Military Mandate Amplifying National Duty" (COMMAND) Act to ensure that newly commissioned U.S. Military Officers receive training on the Constitution before reporting to their first Operational Assignment.

It’s not every day that the National Rifle Association and the American Civil Liberties Union can celebrate a shared victory. But with the recent decision from the U.S. Supreme Court in National Rifle Association vs. Vullo – unanimous, by the way, and penned by Justice Sonya Sotomayor no less – Americans of every political stripe can celebrate, big time. If you can believe this, the ACLU represented the NRA in a 1st Amendment challenge to the N.Y. Dept. of Financial Services – AND, free speech was on the docket.
As the Inflation & Family Finances continue to dominate voter's concerns about the future, one recent report revealed "U.S. Consumer Confidence" had deteriorated for a 3rd straight month. And after May's Employment Figures were released earlier this morning by the Labor Dept., the U.S. House Budget Committee announced it's analysis shows roughly half of all new jobs created since October have gone to immigrants – many of whom are illegal immigrants. "It shows a far weaker economy than suggested,” said the Committee's Chairman, Jodey Arrington of Texas.

"The 2024 Texas Coastal Roundup's resounding success wouldn't have been possible without the hard work of all the organizations who showed up and participated" said Texas Land Office Commissioner Dawn Buckingham. "Together, we created a unique opportunity for Texans to learn firsthand about our GLO activities, and see how various groups protect our beautiful coastline," Buckingham said, acknowledging the 50+ groups and 1,500+ people who, along the GLO Staff, held the event for the Corpus Christi Community.
